Founded in 1977, the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender Community Center of Baltimore and Central Maryland (GLCCB) is the oldest organization in Maryland dedicated to providing information, support, services, and resources to the GLBT community.
Programs Manager Responsibilities:
This position is primarily responsible for coordinating, increasing, and enhancing the programs, services, and partnerships of the GLCCB. Under the limited supervision of the Executive Director, the Programs Manager will have responsibility for program management, including staff development, marketing, and accountability; communicating and interpreting organizational policies and strategies for the purpose of implementation; and assisting in fundraising and grant writing to support programs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assess the GLCCB's existing programs, identify gaps in programming, develop new programming, and apply best practices to existing programming; · Work with Executive Director and development staff to prepare, submit, and track grant requests. Supervise sub-contracts, grant budgets, and reporting as directed; · Develop a written program plan with a focus on implementation and implementation timeline, measurable objectives and evaluation; · Evaluate progress made in achieving measurable objectives of programs and report on progress, demographics of program participants, etc.; · Coordinate and schedule space with coordinators and groups renting Center space; · Serve as public ambassador for the GLCCB, attend conferences and meetings, conduct presentations, provide technical assistance, and/or sensitivity trainings; · Maintain Volunteer Program. Recruit, screen, train, and supervise volunteers, students, and interns utilizing best practices for GLCCB programs, including the David Bohnett CyberCenter, DIGYTS youth hotline, and the GLCCB's general resource hotline; · Create program materials, promotional tools, and screening, training and evaluation tools. Revise and update policies and procedures; · Act as liaison with existing group and meeting facilitators, and as liaison to the Program Committee; · Assist the Executive Director in establishing and maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety of the Center's facility.
Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:
· Assist clients and drop-in visitors; · Post schedule of events at the Center; · Coordinate and supervise all program events and activities; · Research funding opportunities, and explore ways to make existing programs selfsustaining; · Develop community partnerships and solicit in-kind donations to support programs; · Train key staff members and volunteer leaders in "best practices" of volunteer management and service-learning; · Conduct monthly Volunteer Orientations · Perform background checks on volunteers who work with youth; · Develop and implement volunteer recognition activities; · Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours; · Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director
Supervision:
The Programs Manager reports to the Executive Director, working with the Executive Director and the Programs Committee to coordinate and enhance existing programs, and implement new programs.
Qualifications:
Strong working knowledge of non-profit program development and implementation. B.A. in related field or equivalent experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills, computer literacy, and the ability to manage time effectively.

· Comfort working with Microsoft Office products; · Skilled at taking initiative, problem solving, and working independently; · Skilled at interpersonal relationships; · Dependable and able to maintain a positive attitude; · Have own, or have access to, reliable transportation to and from the GLCCB, GLCCB outreach activities or events; · Able to react to change productively, with a clear focus on results; · Sensitivity to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender population, and fluency and currency in GLBT community issues; · Commitment to social justice and an understanding of grassroots organizing; · Comfort working with persons from diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, socioeconomic, and religious backgrounds; · Evening and weekend availability.
