Billy Sunday's Monday Drive
According to I-Tunes and the new www.amazon.com MP3 site people particularly like, "Billy Sunday Monday Drive," a cut on my new release, "Six String Sermons."
I suspect it's the title -- based on comments I've been getting. It turns out not everyone is familiar with the famous evangelist-preacher Billy Sunday. During the 1920s & 1930s Mr. Sunday would attract thousands to his revivals, which often had strong prohibition themes.
By all accounts he was a mesmerizing speaker and, unlike many of his ilk, and honest man who was never caught in a compromising position.
Anyway, I was in the studio and for some reason started thinking about what preachers do on Monday after working all day on Sundays. It seemed like the most likely answer was take a "Monday Drive."
So I put together a medley of popular hymns from the era that might have been going around Billy Sunday's head as he took his Monday drive. Some of the tunes include "Give Me That Old Time Religion," "What A Friend We Have In Jesus" and "Amazing Grace."
You can call it "stream of thought" or "stream of fingers" or whatever you like.
