"Ladies and gentlemen, start your engines!" echoed Saturday across Bossier Parish Community College's parking lot, which was transformed into a race track for the BPCC 100: Mini NASCAR Event.

Taking from Texarkana College's business model, the event doesn't charge admission and instead aims to profit from its customized go-cart sales, entry fees and vendor fees.

Johnny Wyatt of the Bossier City Marshals office said "We're hooked" Wyatt, whose car came in sixth in the final race, said his team really loved the camaraderie the competition built within his team and with other teams, especially Texarkana-based BWI Companies Inc. That team, which came in first place in the finals, loaned the city marshal's team equipment and other items it didn't have.
