The further away you are, the bigger they get.
I can see the towers from my back garden. I live in those terraces at Greystones, near the Somerfields on Eccy Road. I have to climb on top of the picnic table and there they are, just before the hill cuts off the view of the valley. Between the chimney pots of the houses, I can just see their two tops.
You can see them from everywhere in Sheffield. From the covered reservoir in front of Tapton. From Wincobank. From the roof of Park Hill. From Heavygate Road where the 52 finishes. From Ringinglow Road in the Peak District. THE PEAK DISTRICT.
From the top of St James tower in town, they loom over the Don Valley like mountains.
We want people to be able to see them from further away, too. From all over the world. Whenever you think of the word SHEFFIELD, we want those towers to appear in people..s heads, in their imaginations, massive.
That..s how big they are. That..s what they could mean if they were reused as art. A new symbol.
