Stephanie Basten and Michaela Munnelly caught up with top music producer Statik for an exclusive interview with him about his views on the new "Grindie" scene.

Q: Is Grindie here to stay?
Statik: "Probably yes, it is here to stay. Artists like Bizzle are now collaborating with people like the Artic Monkeys etc At first it was just a personal thing for me but now its getting bigger and everyone seems to be doing it."

Q: How have networking sites like Myspace influenced the music that the British youth are listening too?
Statik: "Its totally affected it because it's increased the level of communication and created an even playing field."

Q: What positive affect do you feel Grindie has on the the youth?
Statik: " Everyone is involved in it! Its a natural process, you dont just get together and plan for it to happen, it just happens. It doesnt conform to the stereotypes of Grime music."

Q: And the negative sides of Grindie?
Statik: "Well people will always hate on it, but you know what? Grindie has done its job and there's nothing anyone can do about it, whether they like it or not. It's making ways...its making ways."
