Current mood: relaxed
Yoooo we’re in Cincinnati right now it’s SUN eve(OCT 11th…this is last week)and we’re watching the movie SOUL MAN at this girl Mandy’s house…. It was ok…so last time I left off we were looking for a place to stay…I went for a small bike ride through town and got some strange reactions from some Kentucky folk…it started rainin again so I went back to the van and started reading more of my book…Jeremy and Pete were out playin in the park and when they came back they decided that they wanted to start drving out towards Cincinnati…so we left Bowling Green and ended up in a parking lot of a mall out in Louisville, Kentucky. It was weird cause I was already asleep and I woke up in the middle of the eve to pee and just got out of the van and went out in the open…I always wake up and have to go in the middle of the night…if I don’t do it fast I may have a hard time getting back to sleep…anyway, we then woke and drove out to Cincinnati and parked in front of the Blue Rock Tavern. It was closed so we took a walk through the town.. We were in Northern Cincinnati and you can tell there was a way they took pride in their neighborhood…it was a cool area…we had some taco bell..i had the $1 burritos…and we grabbed a crap load of free “FIRE” sauce…tried to get some distro at “Shake it Records but they only take cd’s from bands w/distro so we do but I have to have Chris from our label get in touch w/them…so pete and j went skatin around town and I ended up taking a bike ride in the 2nd largest cemetery in the US which was the Grove ST Cemetary…it was completely humongous and hopefully I will have some pics up soon that I took w/my phone that came out pretty damn good…I gotta say I really don’t like my phone but it takes great pics…it was such a beau day and I was thinking about how I would ride my bike at home w/my riding pal Halle and low and behold I got a call from her…how funny…anyway, rode around a bit and headed back to the venue and started reading my book again and whist I was reading this girl Mandy came up and started talking to me and then this guy Gary came up and started chatting...he had a bottle of “Wild Irish Rose” w/a straw(cheap alcohol) and boy was he chatty…lol..we talked about traveling and he started talking to me about how the brothas respected white people w/dreads…never thought about it but whatever…maybe people feel that their culture is respected hence retro respect…so he left, pete and Jeremy came back and I took a walk up to sidewinders café and bought some tea and a vegan cookie..came back and set up for the show…we played 2 sets cause the bands that were supposed to play cancelled out so it was just us…kinda sucked that we didn’t have the local band support but there was a cool crowd and we sold some cd’s…we made our quota for the day which is good…after a while the smoke grew thick and I had to bail…it was late anyway so we packed out but that girl we were going to stay with was taking everyone up to her apartment which was right above the bar BUT it was like 3:30ish and I was exhausted and wasn’t in the mood to hang so I went to sleep in the van which I may add that it was one of the best sleeps…the van is very comfortable…again I woke in the middle of the eve to pee but being in a city it is quite difficult to find somewhere to pee quickly…but I managed to go down this alley and pee through a fence into a deserted lot…and quickly went back to sleep..woke around 12:30ish and did some yoga in this lil park across the street…twas quite a beautiful day…read some more of the book and then p and j woke and we I went upstairs and cooked some oatmeal and then whilst on the internet I saw on the venues web site(that we were supposed to play that eve)that the battle of the bands started at 3pm…ouch!...it was around 2:30ish so we packed up and headed on over but the place was closed..i then looked through the past emails and saw that she wrote that we would go on maybe around 9ish…so we drove out and we went back towards that cemetery and there was a car show in the funeral homes parking lot…which was odd but it was free so we decided to go check it out…we went in and then p and j disappeared so I walked around w/mandy checking out the cars…I was never a huge fan of cars but the show was pretty interesting…didn’t see p and j so I called them and they were in the cemetery walking about…so I thought it would be a good idea to take a bike ride through…soooo we went back to van, got the bikes and took a ride through again..and it was another gorgeous day…………….
I am now finally getting back to write and it’s already SAT(headin to Atlanta) but it’s the first day it hasn’t rained since that wonderful SUN bike ride…EGAD this week was cold and rainy icchh…ok, on w/the story…so we rode around the cemetery a bit and then went to go to the gig again but there was just the bartender and he informed us that the bookie was fired…iccch…so we went back into town and took a walk up this tavern place and inquired about maybe playing there that eve but they were already booked…☹.so had a REALLY good beer(damnit cunt think of the name of it) and then we went back to Mandy’s apt and cooked some dinner…we had sautéed garlic, onions veggies, refried beans and salmon mixed up to make burritos…twas good…filling…and then Mandy got that movie “soul man”…we watched it, I fell asleep but low and behold she came up later from the bar w/her friend and they were talking, smoking ad cigarettes within this small apt and it wasn’t working for an ideal sleeping situation so therefore we split and this was 5:30am…we decided it would be better to go to Lakewood and hang out and we did…got there around noonish, had some coffee, made some tuna fish sandwiches which were great and I did some work on the computer etc… sat outside The Phoenix Coffee House and worked on a new song that I wrote..started putting all the pieces and lyrics together…met up w/Jeremy(the kid w/the hair in front of his face) and headed on over to this open mic in Cleveland at Kobolts…it was a great crowd for a MON…all the acts were great, we played, did an amazing set, chilled for a bit and went back to Ben, Matt, and Eliana’s house where we crashed…had a pretty good sleep, woke, ate some oatmeal and we all went out for a ride to the this great thrift shop..i got a great pair of shoes that look like oak wood…I usually hate shoes but these r great…forgot to mention too that we stopped at this used book store cause I left my “cat’s cradle” book in Cincinnati…couldn’t find a copy but I borrowed Matt’s and I made damn sure I finished it before we left…and lemme tell ya…that was one of the best books ever(btw anna I’ll getcha another copy)…I could probably be happy reading it again..i am now a full fledged Bokonist…I would say it’s my fave from Kurt…so back to the thrift store…we also bought this vintage suitcase in which we r now going to display our merch in…pete and J designed it and it looks great…after that we went to SAM ASH and picked up some supplies..believe it or not I only had one pick…so I got some o dose and I got me some strings…we then went back into town and made some pasta, wveggies, etc at the house…then we went to Xela’s open mic(great musician and he hosted the other open mic too) at Phoenix Coffee house and again it was packed…we played, we kicked arse and we sold some more cd’s…after the open mic we played this kid Krue’s bday party…twas great…had a good time..met some other cool kid named Kyle from Alaska..what is it w/me meeting peeps from Alaska?...anyway, woke up, ate oatmeal(of course) and we headed out to Pittsburgh…the gig was at Howlers Coyote Café and we played w/2other acts called Mirrors and Wires and The Mighty Stef(from Ireland). We went there, loaded in and they bar fed everyone w/pizza but I can’t eat pizza cause I’m allergic to cheese so I went across the street and bought some brown rice and put some hot sauce on it..twas good..only $1.50 and it was filling…so we played a great set, and sold some merch…good for a wed… our friends Hot Garbage from Beacon came and it was a great time…twas so amazing to see people from home…love those guys…after the gig we went over their house…Zane bought this amazing house and they all live there…tis an AMAZING set up…Zane’s doing a great job at restoring this house…Pittsburgh is a cool looking city…reminds me of Europe w/stone cobble streets and they’re all so narrow…almost like a rural San Fran w/all the houses so tight together throughout the hilltops…the weather was shitty the next day and we made tea and chilled in the house all day…i now have a 4 track which I am recording gigs and that day I recorded my new song…I might put it up on myspace soon…it’s really good…I actually played at this place called “Gooskis”…had a great time playing and watching Hot Garbage …twas an odd gig and I think I’ll leave it at that…oh I forgot to mention the wonderful meals ZANE cooked us…the first meal for lunch was a mixture of rice, other grains, apples, onions, bread and hummus on the side…mmmm and then for dinner he made a soup…damn…anyway, that morn we made a shitlaod of oatmeal and headed out towards PHILI round 2…we got lost getting out and then later we stopped in some lil township in PA to get some groceries and when were coming back we got stopped by the police to let a this lil parade go pay..it was so weird and so freakin random..it was their homecoming parade and had their football team and cheerleaders on the back of these flatbed pick up trucks…so that delayed us like a half hour…freakin creepy…lol…got to phili late but the guys there arranged it so we could go on later…thanx to the bands for being cool…filmstar, and others I cunt think of right now.but they were all great…we played and did a kickin show but I felt my voice going weird…anyway, we sold a shitload of merch which we really needed…Ratboy was in town too but we were unable to meet up though…☹…we tried…so we split and headed out towards Myrtle Beach…we ended up driving like 50 miles and then we parked..i was sleeping though…in the morn we cont’d…and it’s 11:30pm right now and we r heading for Atlanta now because the women who booked us for the gig was fired..seems to be the top theme these days..hmmmm..anyway we’re heading to our good friend’s Mike and Sarah’s house and staying there tonight… OK, so it’s SUN(10/18…holy shit it’s 18days)…we got to their house at like 2am..egad what an F’N long day O’drivin…so as soon as I got there I gave greetings but took a shower and crashed…holy crap was I tired…slept till like 12:30pm…felt good…had some great coffee Mike left us, made some pancakes, did some yoga, watched Pand J play grand theft auto, climbed a tree and went for a GREAT bike ride…HAIL THE SUN!!!...mmm it felt sooooo good but it’s not that warm down here but it feels like fall in NY which is ok w/me…just need a lil sweatshirt…so I got a bike lock and then I took a ride to book store and bought this book “don’t sweat the small stuff” …I didn’t even go in w/the intent of buying a book but it jumped out at me. I started reading it and decided it was a great idea. I’ve been feeling the urge to work hard on my reconditioning…being on tour can test you continuously so it’s great mental practice…so went to taco bell and had a $1 burrito whilst I read my new book and then peddled back to the abode… till next time…peace
