Finalists for the 'Best Live Act' Award announced!

For the past few months, music lovers across the country who have experienced the magic of a live gig or music festival in Scotland have been voting in their thousands to help decide who should win the VisitScotland 'Best Live Act' Award at the Tartan Clef Music Awards 2008. We can now reveal that the five finalists in line to scoop the Award are :

Amy MacDonald

Beecake

Sergeant

The Haze

Glasvegas

There can only be one winner, and your favourite act still needs your support to win this prestigious award.Visit our Finalists page to check out what the acts on the shortlist had to say on hearing they'd reached the final five, and what their fans had to say about them. Then ensure you vote for them to win the award. When you vote you'll automatically be entered into our free prize draw to win a trip to Glasgow, including tickets to attend the Tartan Clef Music Awards at the city's Old Fruitmarket on 22nd November 2008. This fabulous prize also includes a 2 night stay for 2 at the luxury Fraser Suites, return transport to Glasgow, dinner at the Corinthian or Arta on the evening of Friday 21st November, a 2-hour snowboarding or skiing lesson at SNO!Zone Braehead and £250 spending money.Get voting now!


The Tartan Clef Music Awards are held each November in Glasgow to recognise and celebrate music talent. Last year's winners included Franz Ferdinand, Biffy Clyro and Amy Macdonald, and for 2008, the event is set to be bigger and better than ever.


The Awards are part of a major fundraising programme in support of the charity Nordoff-Robbins Music Therapy in Scotland. The charity helps children and adults with a wide variety of special needs to improve their quality of life through a range of music-based therapeutic treatments.

I've just voted for you too. I know I WOULDN'T be voting for Glasvegas, went to see them in Edinburgh recently at the Liquid Rooms and some of the crowd was horrendous. There was so much football style chanting and "oafish" shoving and pushing, my feet came off the floor at one point. My boyfriend also nearly got beat up with some "ned" swearing at him and then he was aggressively shoved in the chest. It was a nightmare and if I'd known they attracted people like this I'd never have gone in the first place!!!!! Will never go and see them again. I'm just too old for that.
