decomP: a literary magazine
From the Editor-in-Chief
By Jason Jordan
Welcome back to decomP for the August 2009 issue. The relocation of our HQ was a success, but please give us a couple weeks to catch up with submissions. This month we're featuring new work from Corrina Bain, Mike Boyle, Alan Stewart Carl, Paula Treick DeBoard, Heather Fowler, Alicia Gifford, Justin Hamm, Mary Hamrick, Robert Homem, Tammy Ho Lai-ming, Jon Lasser, Dave Malone, Steven J. McDermott, Shilo Morlang, Brenton Rossow, Felino Soriano, Ori Toor, and Kevin Wilson.
Additionally, we recently nominated eight pieces for
Best of the Net 2009: Cristin O'Keefe Aptowicz's "A SHORT HISTORY OF UNUSUAL FISH," Kristin Dombrowski's "Bog," Kira Hesser's "inertia / inner / in her," Heather Momyer's "Dead Dog," Adam Moorad's "Star-Spangled Enterprise," S. Craig Renfroe, Jr.'s "Scientist Mad," Iftekhar Sayeed's "the early mangoes," and Buff Whitman-Bradley's "Aerial Intercourse." We wish our nominees luck in the selection process, and hope you'll
revisit their work.
In other news,
PANK Magazine interviewed our prose editor Jared Ward for their Ask the Editor series. You can read the interview
here.
Finally, in a sad turn of events, Jeffrey Qualls passed away suddenly. He contributed
"Green Onion Center" to our July 2009 issue. Please consider donating to the
Jeffrey Qualls Memorial Fund, which supports NorCal Boxer Rescue of Texas. Condolences to his family and friends.
