Spirit dish out awards

The sixth annual Saginaw Spirit Awards Ceremony took place in TheDow Event Center’s Heritage Theater Tuesday night.

A large crowd of season ticket holders cheered on the team in its final official function of the 2007-08 Ontario Hockey League season.

Here is the rundown:

- Nouvel Catholic Central Student of the Year: Tyler Murovich

- Davenport University Student of the Year: Jack Combs

- Fan Favorite: Murovich, Combs

- Heart and Soul Award: Murovich

- Wren Blair Leadership Award: Ryan McDonough

- Community Service Award: Ryan Daniels

- Most Improved Player: Jordan Ogilvie

- Best Defenseman: T.J. Brodie

- Rookie of the Year: Jordan Szwarz

- MVP: McDonough

- First tally: Murovich, Brodie, Szwarz, Adam Comrie, Brad Smith, Zane Neily, Daniel Pachis and Kain Allicock each received a certificate for scoring their first Ontario Hockey League goal.
