Just a little story...
Off course, in the beginning I logged on to Second Life, I was mainly concerned about my appearance. Choosing the right skin, make-up, clothes and other stuff I might need to make a good impression. One of the nights when I was shopping, I met a handsome young man. He was very friendly and showed me around (even bought me a nice T-shirt!). I was anxious to return a favour and when he proposed to go for a dance I happily agreed.
We danced for hours under a moonlit sky and he started to tell his lifestory. In real life he was handicapped, due to a severe accident in the Iraqi War. Allmost cut in half by and exploding device, he was forced to stay in bed all the time. Allways in terrible pain, seeing the sun only throught the shaded windows. His girlfriend had left him and the only happiness and joy came from this game, his Second Life....
If they had invented this game only for him, it was worth all the costs. He was able to dance, fly and chat with a girl like me. And I really think I made him happy, just for a little while... Perhaps it was my imagination, but his eyes seemed more brighter at the end.
We said goodbye with a kiss. I never heard of him again...
