The image sums it up for me.

I stewed about this for a while. I wanted to wait for emotions to settle, for my thoughts to collect, for everyone else to have their say first, see if they bring up any points I've missed in my contemplation.

Every human being, on some level, worries that maybe they'll be killed in some random meaningless act of violence. It's a very passive worry, as most don't expect to, but it's a worry nonetheless.

The difference, I think, is that I assume, based on where I live, what I do, and how I act, that if I were to become the victim of a random act of violence, that I would have the means to defend myself. I have the right to carry a gun. I take advantage of that right.

There was a Letter to the Editor in the Concord Moniter (New Hampshire paper) very recently regarding V-Tech. They said, and I paraphrase - "well, now there's no reason not to ban guns". Well, guess what - criminals don't follow the law, that's why they're criminals. Banning guns doesn't make them any less likely the carry them. The shooter didn't pay much attention to V-Tech Policy, now did he? Taking away a patriotic, law-abiding citizen's right to armed defense doesn't stop the criminals from having guns, it gives them the fatal advantage over the innocent.

That's all I have to say.
