I just got an edit back on one of my books, and it was suggested that I re-read, looking for errors w/ there-their-they're and your-you're and its-it's. Excuse me? What is the spell/grammar check for anyway? Huh? Obviously the grammar would be wrong in a sentence such as: "Their but for the grace of God....", or "Its you're turn...." (see how I got two errors in that one sentence? You "new" I was talanted, right?)
I will admit that spelling, like math, science, geography, and history, are not my best subjects, but, please, give me a "brake." (You see how I put my joke words in quotes so you won't think I'm just stupid? Yes, we professional righters are clever.)
My good friend Jeff Abbott once gave me a tee-shirt that said "Bad Spellers of the World Untie," but he was just joking. Weren't you, Jeff? Weren't you?
All I'm saying is we pay a fortune for these computer dohickies, the least they can do is come up w/ a grammar check that knows the difference between the place to use it's and the place to you its. Is that so much to ask?
Alright (or is it all right?), I've procrastinated enough. Back to the mss. and my there-their-they'res.
Out. Susan
