Category: News and Politics
While visiting the Huffington Post today, I read an article that said the GOP was doing cartwheels today when it was announced that President Obama's bid for the 2016 Olympics to be held in Chicago had been unsuccessful.

Despite the fact that poll numbers showed that a majority of Americans thought it was a good idea, and that hosting the Olympic Games is always a great honor and a very unifying event, the GOP leaders once again put their bloodlust for President Obama above the desires of the American people.
The article actually had a video showing the GOP erupting into cheers and applause when the decision was announced. (I mean seriously, who cheers against their own country? And they say that the President is un-American?) Even though American citizens wanted it, GOP leaders were more concerned with the "good news" that Obama had "failed" at something (in their eyes).

They justified their response by saying that Chicago was nothing but mobsters and gansters anyway, and that Obama was probably on the payroll of some nefarious criminals who wanted the Olympics in Chicago, etc. ,etc.---a lot of not very complimentary things about Illinois in general.
Reading all this, it occured to me just how weary I am becoming of the GOP and their constant, unrelenting and baseless harrassment of President Obama (YES I said harrassment- what else would you call it?) I can barely stand to look at the news any more. I sort of summed up my feelings in the following comment I left on the article:

"I hope Illinois residents remember these GOP comments at voting time. Democrats should keep track of everyONE and everyPLACE insulted by the GOP in their frenzy to "get" President Obama, just so they can remind voters later on. It's like the GOP leaders have stopped caring about U.S.CITIZENS altogether, and like some stalking maniac, they live, eat and breathe "Obama". They could care less what it's doing to America or our reputation around the world.
How do I say this without sounding *weird*? The GOP is making me feel actually "depressed". Seriously, I can barely stomach the news any more.
NOT depressed about the PRESIDENT (if that's what they're hoping citizens will feel, they're WAY OFF the mark), but depressed in the way that an abused spouse might feel: someone constantly criticized, berated, threatened and mocked day after day--and worse, someone TRAPPED with the abuser.....The GOP has become the nation's "abusive husband", ignoring our needs and wishes, selfishly delighting in our disappointments, sucking the life from us, sapping our strength, and frankly---making you wish they would just go away. FAR AWAY.
Do they think they're gathering fans? They're becoming more loathed by the day and losing their own base!
They're like that vicious, gossiping co-worker that sends people scattering from the break-room when you see her coming- because you KNOW once she opens her mouth, all that negativity will come pouring out- and you just DON'T want to hear it. That's how the GOP leaders' continuous viciousness is beginning to effect people. Is it just me? who knows......."
--------------------------------
And THAT pretty much sums up how I feel about the GOP. I think many of their own will end up jumping ship before it's over, not wanting to be associated with the unpatriotic, bizarre and obsessive antics they've displayed.

It doesn't seem to matter to them what the nation needs. Even the things they KNOW will be beneficial to us, things they KNOW they should vote for, they continue to vote AGAINST just to block any "progress" under Barack Obama's leadership. They will block or stall anything they can, no matter how much the voters may want it, if it would reflect well on the president. They want nothing to go through that might make him "look good".

It's depressing, literally depressing. We are STUCK with them, they are certainly not going anywhere, which means we are going to continue to be sujected to this onslaught of negativity.

I CAN'T be the only person that has grown weary of it. Remember that line that says "Hell is the impossibility of reason?" Well people, you cannot reason with the GOP, no matter how many facts you present to them....so I suppose we are all in hell.

For now anyway.

the saddest thing of all is they stick together, vote together. the democrats have to do the same or we will have two repub parties. this is so pathetic how big financers, lobbiests insurance companies ect... are part of our legislative process.  its disgusting!  the chicago thing was because they just hate Pres. Obama and would love to see him fail.  I think its sad we should look united to the rest of the world for issues like Iran.  I mean how could anyone trust our Pres. when utube is showing unreasonable dissent.  where did all the people that voted for Pres. Obama go?? was it all just a fad? i mean its like the bride that wants the wedding but not the union or marriage.  Where is the support from them? and even if you didnt vote for him you dont have to support him, just respect him atleast and hope he succeeds because then our country will.  As much as i hated W. i truely never wanted to have our country fail because i wanted to prove myself right and him and his voters wrong.  This is not the case with these people they are willing to spite the fate of our country just to say "i was right, you were wrong" , thats the scariest thing of all.

Exactly! If they are willing to sacrifice all of us just to "win an argument", then none of us are safe, not really. I have to laugh at all the people that believe Bush and Obama are of the same ilk....if that were the case, Obama would be getting the same protection in the media that Bush always received, instead of every wild theory that comes along being aired and printed. I think the Bush people are behind the "Obama hatred" frenzy because if you keep the nation preoccupied with the president, we won't have time to look at what he and Cheney did while in office and demand prosecution. It's not as far-fetched as it seems. They did an awful lot in those 8 years and I'm sure they were worried that once they left office and weren't in control any more, the next administration might gather up the evidence and prosecute them. They can't afford to let things "calm down", or we might turn our eyes to them.
