The Vultures of Venus have just finished their first self titled album and have been playing the Melbourne music circuit for just over a year. The Vultures have been cultivating a pop, rock sound that heavily influenced by 80s and 90s dance culture but still focuses on the definitive characteristics of 60s garage & 70s glam rock. With a driving electro beat, brit pop melodies and rock guitar riffs and hooks the band have been creating a sound that sets itself apart from any other act in the Melbourne music scene. The Vultures have a sound that is a result of revelling in the drama of music by indulging in the characteristics of 60s beatles melodies, 70s glam rock, 80s electronica and 90s brit pop. The main writers of the music Jefferson Morrow & Simon Quinn are serious about their music but write in a style that is both tongue in cheek and to a certain extent ironic creating a parodie of pop rock but persuing the serious agenda of celebrating all that is camp and cool about modern music.
