Carl Jackson to be inducted into Ms. Music Hall of Fame this weekend
From staff and press reports
When Winston County native and Bluegrass extraordinaire musician Carl Jackson returns home once again for his annual "Home for Christmas" concert, he will be newly minted from his induction into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame.
Jackson who has been described as the 'stealth superstar' of music will be inducted into the Mississippi Musicians Hall of Fame October 14 after he headlines the weekend concerts of the induction. While Jackson continues to earn honors across the country including several grammys, he has never forgotten his 'homeplace' of Winston County and is already scheduled to enliven his annual "Home for Christmas" concert on December 9.
Two shows will be offered for the event with one at 5 p.m. and one at 8 p.m. This year special reserved seating will also be available for a small fee.
The annual concert benefits the ongoing renovation of the Community Arts Center, the Strand Theatre. Joining Carl for a night many different musical genres will be fellow Grammy winners, Nashville songwriters and award-winning performers Larry Cordle and Jerry Salley along with Nashville singer Valerie Storey. Mississippi standup bass player Johnny Rawls will also join him as well as The Larry Wallace Band from Starkville and Ruby Jane Smith, a fiddle prodigy from Columbus.
For the first time, "Home for Christmas", patrons will be able to purchase a specific seat. The seats in the auditorium which were donated by a Carl Jackson fan at a previous concert are being permanently labeled by section, row, and seat. Concert goers will be able to purchase specific seats in either the premium section (at $25 per ticket) or a specific seat in the general seating areas (at $20 each).
Due to the new reserved seating arrangements, tickets to either the 5pm or 8 pm concerts may only be purchased at the Louisville-Winton County Chamber of Commerce in person or by calling 662-773-3921. Tickets are on sale now and reserved seats will be sold on a first-come first-serve basis.http://www.winstoncountyjournal.com/articles/2006/10/11/news/news06.txt
