my dear lady sam jones is on tour from gainesville with her band CASSETTE, & her songs stick to my skin like north carolina summers.  they suffocate me as a sleeping bag would if you were to purchase the one for arctic adventures but then only use it in north carolina.  & all i'm trying to say here is that sometimes it's frustrating, buying the wrong kind of sleeping bag, but you still need it.  i mean you may curse the thing up & down for making you all sweaty & claustrophobic, but yr certainly not about to go sleep naked in a north carolina february.  eventually you submit to the fucking sleeping bag & never speak of it again.  like a best friend who pisses you off, but only because you know she's right.  i apologize if this makes no sense at all, but it's a high compliment nonetheless.

HEALTH is jonathan's (tiger bear wolf) quiet project & they're beautiful.  simply put, there's no way that the best guitar player in greensboro can go wrong.

WORK CLOTHES keep getting better & better, which is fucked up, considering they were already my favorite band the first time i saw them play...three years ago?

jenny & lee & jill from work clothes will be joining me for half of the DES ARK set, which will include electric guitars (yeah yeah, we can all breathe a sigh of relief now), drums, accordion,  piano & bass.

also i predict that BULL CITY RECORDS will greatly improve yr quality of life, if your life involves liking music & living near durham.  chaz just moved to town & opened this place up, he is sweet almost to a fault & stoked on throwing shows.  for those of you who haven't yet figured it out, this is someone we ought to force our love upon.

desark UPDATE:
it's a dang mess right now, a lame dog, but one who will walk again!  tim moved away in september & i got bummed, decided to quit playing music & scribbled down a list of all the ways i might more efficiently waste my fucking life.  some examples of what made cut were: going to college, joining the circus, building a yurt & getting lost in some woods somewhere...although in general i wasn't being very picky, so pretty much any & all things that might place me as far away from music as possible made it on that list.

but then one morning i woke up & in a furious twitch i booked about 16 solo shows, thereby trashing all my plans of becoming a stock market analyst.  i don't remember doing this, i just remember waking up the next morning & thinking to myself "oh fuck. i've really fucked up now."  then i went back to bed for a while.

but so that's that.  i've been plowing through these months & fyi if you find yrself wondering why i'm playing a ridiculous number of shows in the triangle, just know yr in good company.  i can guarantee that i think it is more ridiculous than you do & that i'm even more sick of myself than you'll ever be.  it's almost over.

i'll be heading down to athens for a weekend to demo some of these songs, to pull some rockers together with friends i trust & some quiet ones together with some still undetermined strangers, all in preparation for a couple of 7"s & a split release with my favorite former bandmate in the whole wide world, ben davis.  been practicing with work clothes, who've taken these songs & made them real.  touring in feb/march & june & weekends in between.  eating a lot of my roommates ice cream & tortillas along the way, doing a gross amt of myspace'ing on duke university's dollar & being generally freaked out & sleep deprived per usual.

i don't suppose any of you have made it to the end of this, but i just wanted to add that even though i lost my mind & got married last week, everything's gonna work out just fine.

Vincent

I can't post a comment on your comment page, but I simply want to shed my respectful acknowledgement of your vocal, chords and songs. I think it's awesome what you're making and I have bet already with karma that you'll make it big enough to shake it down in BC, Canada.

Come play in columbus OH!  I bet Jacob of the Evil Queens has told you this lots.  For real, there will be at least 2 people at that show!  That is totally worth the drive.
