Wikipedia says: TED (Technology, Entertainment, Design) is an academic organization owned by The Sapling Foundation, a private nonprofit foundation. TED is well-known for its annual, invitation-only conference devoted to "ideas worth spreading". TED is famous for its lectures, known as TED Talks, which originally focused on technology, entertainment and design, but have now expanded in scope to a broad set of topics including science, arts, politics, education, culture, business, global issues, technology and development. Speakers have included such people as former U.S. President Bill Clinton, U.K. Prime Minister Gordon Brown, Nobel laureates James D. Watson, Jane Goodall, and Al Gore, Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates, Google co-founders Sergey Brin and Larry Page, and Billy Graham.

So tonight I watched the following TED talk which really made me change my mind about the direction of society as we know it. I am inspired by this man's ideas and I think you would be too. I suggest you check it out, it really lit the flame in my heart I hold for my faith in humanity. ;-)

Today was nice. I worked the morning shift for the first time on a Monday. It was pretty uneventful but I did get a whole lot of nice compliments from some customers which made me feel all warm and fuzzy. I guess people really do think of me as a nice person and that makes me happy.

I came home and Jim and Renee were in the backyard. It was a nice day and I am fond of chatting with them so I went outside. Renee did her usual thing and scared me with “I gotta talk to you.” Ugh that always makes my stomach tie in knots. Apparently they are looking into getting a house in Chicago close to Renee's family. I think they would like it a lot out there but I will miss them. I asked if they would rent this house to Mike, Phil and I and they actually said that they would do that.

Later Tom came over and we listened to some jams and went out to enjoy the rest of the evening. We went to Lowes to look into screen doors. My room is so dark because of the positioning of the windows but I do have a door to the outside which would be perfect for opening up the place with a screen door. I could come home after work and actually enjoy some light in my room for once. With Autumn quickly approaching... I want one soon! We found these awesome ones by a company called Larson that has sliding glass panes in them. When you slide the pane down to open the window, a screen comes down with it to guard the open window. I was quite impressed and I think I will get one like that for my room. Hopefully Jim and Renee wouldn't mind. Tom and I ended up each buying and Aloe Vera plant. Yay plants!

After that we went to Animal Jungle to goof off for a while. When we pulled up in the parking lot there was this sky-blue pimped out chevy on 22” rims. It had air-brushed “Poppa Smurf” and an image of Papa Smurf over the Chevy logo above the back wheels. We had quite the laugh and once again I was wishing I had my camera.

We went to Target to get Renee's popcorn and then we went and had dinner at Mongolian BBQ. It was a really nice evening.

I came home and crashed out on my bed because I was so tired. I've been keeping really off hours these days. It's flip-flopping between the 7 am – 3 pm and 3 pm – 11 pm shift while maintaining my 11 pm – 3 am social life. Life is tough, but I try to milk each day for what it's worth.

Mike and I talked about sharing the house a bit for tonight. It's totally doable. I'd say we're looking at $1200 (over projected for wiggle-room) a month in utilities to live here. Mike, Phil and I could totally swing that. We could even get Tom to move over here (he seemed very excited at the thought, but it might not happen if Jim and Renee decide to keep their bed room set up) then we'd have the utilities divided by four which would be even better. The four of us are very organized, clean, intelligent and I think together we could keep the house in order. We'd pick specific days to do cleaning and yard work so we could get chores knocked out asap. There would be fewer (fuzzy) animals in the house so vacuuming for fur wouldn't be as big a task for us to keep up with. I'm very enthusiastic about this, especially since operation FL isn't going as smoothly for the moment.

It's late, I'm tired. I really just wanted to exhibit that awesome video but I ended up recording my day. Oh well. Not like anyone reads this thing anymore anyway. I hope everyone is doing good though.

Here's a jumping spider that's been living in my room. He used to be teeny, like the size of a pencil eraser. It was cool watching him attack flying bugs that sneak in at night. The other afternoon I happened to look up at my clock and found him in his usual spot. It had been a while though so he surprised me, I thought he'd died or moved on to better places. I must say, the digital zoom on my camera is very nice.

This is the toad that chills by the side door which usually always has a light on every night. He's very large, obviously well fed from all the bugs.

The new Ferret Nation cage I got for my rats. They really seem to enjoy it. Also! They use the litter box! I am so happy about that. It's made my life lots easier. I wish I'd have kept them this way from the beginning. Live and learn.

Right to Left: Francis, Franklin and Ferdinand (I call him Monkey now) I love my rats. I can't wait to get more attatchments for their cage. Yay!

Well now that I've finished wasting an hour of my time... It's time for bed!

Goodnight world,
Lizz
