Hey Everyone,
Long time no blog.  So, I was going to try to tell you all about the Country Radio Seminar, but I can't sum it all up well enough.  We played a very nice show for New Music Weekly, I saw a lot of great acts, and met a lot of wonderful radio people.  That being said, I wanted to point you all to some great new music I found as a result.  Here is what I wanted to blog about tonight.  I got to see and get CDs from some great new acts and I wanted to let you all know about it.  Here is what's in my truck CD player as a result, and in no particular order.
1. Williams Riley- nice guys, and great CD
2. Jimmy Wayne- Check out the new CD. He's a great singer and has chosen great songs.
3. Chris Filer-He is a super indie artist like us, and is a great singer, and writer.
4. Benton Blount-His Cd is not out yet, but watch for it, it'll be great.
5. Darius Rucker-Darius has been a friend of the band since Hootie and the Blowfish, check out his country CD, it's good.
6. Edwin McCain-another good friend of the band, and lately I have been listening to "Scream and Whisper". It came out in 2004, but check out Farewell to Tinkerbell, super cool song.
7. Joey and Rory- Nice people, Nice record.
8. Mark Wills, Familiar Strangers-Really awesome record, check it out.
9. Cody McCarver- One Heckuva nice guy, and great band.  If you haven't checked him out, you should.
10. Pat Green, What I'm For- It's Pat's new record, and it is great.  If you get the chance to see Pat live, GO. It is worth the price of admission. Pat throws down live.
So that's what's on my mind.  Our new record seems to be taking a lot longer than it should, and we are fixing that situation.  I am VERY proud of what we have written, and we have a cavalcade of cool players on it. Steve Hinson on Pedal Steel and some guitar, Tim Lauer on Piano and Organ, Suzanne Rohrer and Victoria Brannan on Fiddle, and a host of others.  I believe in the record a lot.
Finally, I have to say, I recently saw "The assassination of Jesse James" on Showtime, and cannot say how much I loved it.  It is slow, and brooding, and is not in anyway a traditional cowboy movie.  But, perhaps, that's why I loved it.  Brad Pitt is awesome as Jesse James, and my only critisicsm is that the terrain that was filmed was not Missouri-I know it was Canada-but aside from that, it is a beautiful movie.  It's not for everyone, but Casey Affleck is just plain creepy as Robert Ford.  He obviously has better acting credentials than his brother Ben. This blog is full of opinion, and I am sure plenty of people will disagree with me, so please don't take any of this personally.  I do not wish to make anyone mad, I am just expressing what's on my mind.  Please feel free to disagree with me, actually I encourage it.
Please Everyone, Take Care of Yourselves and your Families,
Chris Sable
