Hey guys and gals out there, it's time for update numer two. And guess what we have van trouble again! let me tell you how it went down.
So we were traveling through Louisiana on are way to Shreveport, LA for a house show with our brothers in In the Wake of Giants and tour mates Girlfight and some others. If we haven't mentioned yet we're traveling with Aaron from Revolution Radio and playing as his back-up band. anyway to the point, we pull off to fill up on diesel as we ran out of filters we need for the veggie oil we've been running. Well, we noticed that we had been leaking some diesel and at this stop we noticed that it needed fixed immediately or we'd be in a worse situation. The name of the town we stopped in is Ruston and much to our dismay it's been our home for the past two nights. Though through the dismay there's always something good to find.
Since we arrived in Ruston in the evening all the auto repair places were closed for the day so we planned on playing acoustic stuff on the streets to try and get some money, but probably most of all to entertain ourselves. We were informed by a Rustonian that the local bar Sundown Tavern was a good place to play near and there might be a possiblity to play at the bar itself. So we headed that way. We went in and asked if we could play, but due to a local baseball game special that night we couldn't, so we grabbed some food. after we ate we went and grabbed our instruments and set up right outside hoping we wouldn't get kicked out. After a few songs A lady opened the patio and instead of shooing us away, invited us to play inside. So, we obliged. The crowd inside surprisingly enjoyed it after explaining our situation in between songs a girl asked if we needed a place to stay and shocked we said sure. See we were planning on braving the Lousiana heat in a Wal-mart parking lot, so a house with AC and fellowship was a step up.
Now we expected our van to be fixed in the morning and since it never works the way... it didn't. And here's where the good in the midst of dismay came in. We met two girls named Stephanie and Lindley who let us stay in their houses and get showers. Not to mention all the other house mates who have put up with us the past couple of days. They showed us hospitality and gave us food. They showed us around their town and took a couple of us to a water hole.
So It takes us to here and now, We're still at Lindley's house as Dylan and Aaron are working on trying to get our van fixed over at a local auto repair place called Ace. It's funny how we find ourselves in a place like this every tour, but somehow we're used to it i guess. We're anxious to leave for sure, but it's always an adventure to find yourself in the middle of nowhere USA and find people who care and would hang out with a bunch of hooligans like ourselves. Maybe your town will be the next one we brake down in. if so we look forward to hanging out with ya. You know it's through events like these where we realize more and more that it's more than the music that makes these times meaningful. thanks for all your support back home and from any of you that are interested in reading these ramblings.
