the new Turbine website should be up somtime this summer but since we have been getting so many requests for the lyrics here they are in blog form . .
Behind These Walls Behind these walls and backlit screens we can't hear ourselves. There's no way to tell how how they rise 'till you're standing underneath. There's no going back, no there's no going back, there's no going back so take what you may need. Behind these mirrors and strobe-light screams they're connecting us. But there's sounds in the hall, they bounce back again and we can hear them now. There's sounds in the hall, there's no sounds in the hall, there's sounds in the hall and when they bounce back that's the echoing. It takes me to a place as I rise above the walls I've always known. There's a feeling I can't shake, if you push me off the ledge I'll fall below. Now I'm bound to stay, if I stay too long you know I'll turn to stone. Even stones can break, I won't be around long enough to know. Behind this veil the shadows fall, they're displacing light. There's no way to tell which way is true until we make it through. There's signs up ahead, there's no signs up ahead, there's sounds up ahead and when they bounce back that's the echoing. It takes me to a place as I rise above the walls I've always known. There's a feeling I can't shake, if you push me off the ledge I'll fall below. Now I'm bound to stay, if I stay too long you know I'll turn to stone. Even stones can break, I won't be around long enough to know, long enough to know . . . . behind these walls, behind these walls, etc.
Blackout Song When you look back down on the places you've been, you're looking all around and you count your friends, you know you're gonna want to say goodbye in the end but you know you've gotta do it alone, you're lost and gone, your face is a ghost, the ones you leave you're gonna miss the most, you're never gonna see them when they're on the coast and now you've gotta do it alone (chorus) I was having such a hell of a time and I wanted a beer but a bottle is fine, you know what always happens when you're drinking wine and now you're never gonna want to go home. i'll remember that look on your face 'cause I filed it away just in case, s sometimes it feels like we're in a race to see who can't make it home. I found out there was time to kill and we almost got up to the top of the hill, you know you're only moving when you're standing still and now we're never gonna want to go home. i'll get yours and you got mine, it's nights like these that johnny goes blind, I hope you don't think that I'm out of line, will someone please take me home? . . . it was late and the moon shone bright, soon it'll be all too light there's not much else i'll remember about tonight. drop down gonna land where you've been, you're either taking off or you're coming in, it doesn't really matter when you're back again if you didn't think you'd make it at all. you need some lift when you're ready to go to pick you up from the side of the road when everything is moving slow and you didn't think you'd make it at all (chorus) it was late and the moon shone bright, who turned out all the lights? that's the last thing I'll remember about tonight
Columbus Day I'll be right there I'm on my way just another minute and I'm on my way, said I'll be right there, (on my way), on my way, (right away). there's no need to rush there's just never a need to rush. I'll be right there I'm on my way there's an accident up on 48th said I'll be right there, (on my way), on my way, (right away), there's no need to rush there's just never a need to rush (chorus) it's too far to walk but that's O.K., I'll take a crosstown cab I'll be there soon. now there's a marching band in my way. why'd it have to be columbus day? . . . I'll be right there I'm on my way there's a police blockade in my way said I'll be right there, (on my way), on my way, (right away), there's no need to rush there's just never a need to rush (chorus)
Cranberry Creek Sun won't rise 'till the morning is nigh, can't sleep until the moonlight dies, stare up at space, don't lose your place, stock up on medicine, see better days. (chorus) cranberry creek, wait 'till it floods, pushing over rocks 'till it foams and it suds. cranberry creek, it's the color of blood, wake up in the weeds and you scrape off the mud. . . . stronger than whiskey, stronger than gin, stronger than the thunder that's about to begin. you know what it means to be on that fence, which way you gonna go, well it all depends. (chorus)
Desert Rose I searched so hard to find myself inside of an old ghost town. I see your face, it's all around, some things we're never meant to know. It always rains through the night, cast upon a shadow of stone, I have dreamed of where you are, some distant place where nothing grows. ( chorus) Desert rose, desert rose, waiting for the water to flow. Water flows, my life goes, on the other side I'll see you there. you're not supposed to die so close, you die upon my side my desert rose. . . . You've run away into the dawn, somewhere to run and to hide. this world is lost without your life, some things we're never meant to find. When we unite once again on the edge of time in lands so far I'll hold you close and make the most of the music that pours from my guitar. (chorus)
Devils and Angels Devils and angels, whiskey and rum, hanging around this town. Been a while but now it's time for heading on somewhere south. Leaves turning brown that fall to the ground mean summer's disappeared. Birds are gone, winter's come on, there's nothing doing here. Mountains of home, bottle of rain, find someplace warm to hide. Candy doll is candy sweet but tears you up inside. Friends come around now no one's in town, it just ain't the same this year, kind of strange how things change, there's nothing doing here. Woah ho the fall winds blow, woah ho how they blow and blow, through the trees and through the streets, through the cheers and sorrows. well they say all things pass away honey no more of your tears, look around and see what's found, there's nothing doing here.
Doing to Me Watching the miles go by I'm thinking drop everything a while or doing something that's on my mind what could it be? like letting go everything or slowly crossing the land again I'll look and see the leaves shimmering right by the sea (there by the sea). but my head just keeps turning round I'm looking back when I hear the sound your voice it somehow gets lost then found eventually. But everything has its cost when something's gained well another's lost and then whenever a coin gets tossed you wait and see (just wait and see). well it's like you're tracker now I hear your footsteps upon the ground, I'm leaving clues that I hope you found will lead to me. I feel you're close and you're moving fast but please just don't let the moment pass I think I'm nearly within your grasp don't let me leave. It's what you're doing to me. Well the night it was falling hard it left us standing inside the dark and then the angels they played their harps for you and me. It's leaving me wondering I guess there's trouble in everything still I can't wait till the morning's bringing you to me. It's what you're doing to me.
Don't Take Money From Strangers You can talk about a man going hungry, you can talk about a man going blind, it's easy not to take it too slowly when everything you do is unkind. try not to come too unraveled and everything is gonna be fine. you only get so far when you travel, suddenly you ain't got a dime. don't ever go like this. I wish I had a bottle of whiskey sinking in a pile of snow, it's not so much that you owe me, I wish I didn't have to say no. don't ever go like this. I'll tell you 'bout a man who's in danger with not another dollar to show, and don't take money from strangers, especially not the ones that you know.
Eddy the Sea Eddy, Eddy the Sea, just got back now he's ready to leave, it's been easy as you want it to be 'till he comes back on his hands and knees. Fruit was ripe on the vine when he lived down in the Mississippi pines. It was never so good, but nothing's for sure, I can't even say what he's doing it for. Eddy, Eddy the Sea just got back and now he can't believe it's sunny and seventy-three, and he can kick back in the evening breeze. To tell you, tell you the truth, I think he bet on nothing to lose 'cause he threw it all up in the air, when it comes down he doesn't even care. Eddy, Eddy the Sea, since he got back everything is green. his honey, sweet Angelene, well she was the best that he's ever seen. It's funny, but take it from me, I still don't know how this came to be but I'm lucky he set me free, I was caught between the land and the stars and the sea.
Farm Dreams It's time to walk away and start back over again, a woman with a heartache is a dangerous sin. Every time I'm gonna leave you gotta catch my breath and take another look at what I've done to myself well uh-huh, you gotta let those teardrops fall, well uh-huh, you gotta let those teardrops fall. It's time to turn around I'm gonna head down south, your heart is in my hand and your taste in my mouth. So long baby gotta leave you this time, I wish it could be easy but it feels like a crime well uh-huh you gotta let those teardrops fall, well uh-huh, you gotta let those teardrops fall. you can't take back what you've given, a broken bottle and a mountain to climb, it's hard enough to make a living, and even harder to say goodbye but the farm is waiting, the fish are baiting, the fields shine gold in the sun but the clock keeps ticking, the dream keeps slipping and Im still out on the run, well uh-huh, you gotta let those teardrops fall, well uh-huh, you gotta let those teardrops fall.
Hidden Lake There's a fog falling on the town and it mutes it like a trumpet's note. I feel lower than you'll ever know but I'll be gone before you let me go. I was meant to be on my own but it gets lonelier each and every day. I got dry going underground, to my surprise I found that hidden lake. (Chorus) I went down these streets, I was told the things that you would want to say, but 'till the day that I come home, you will never see me look away. . . . A cold north wind's coming down tonight and the river it just rolls along. Between the bars the silence is loud enough to keep me moving on. But ain't it strange how in the night I close my eyes but I can't get no sleep, untill I find that fluid remedy that takes these static blues away from me. (Chorus) I got lost on that open road when it stretched out to infinity. but everything that we cannot know, we'll find it out eventually. now the days all seem the same, from the sky the night is gonna fall, and I'm just stumbling through the dark, looking out for any light at all. (chorus)
Invited I'm going back to the middle back where you come from, gonna think like a fiddle and play like a drum, I know you're not waiting on nothing new, if I'm invited you're invited too. i f you hear that whistle gonna ride 'till the end, if the wheels stop spinning we'll go round again i'll fly like an arrow that's shot straight through, i f I'm invited you're invited too. gonna read those cards and tell you what they say so you know something good is on the way, i 'll be waiting out in Kalamazoo, if I'm invited you're invited too. never smelled nothing burning up so sweet, just roll that bottle down a cold ice sheet, strike the metal and the sound rings true, if I'm invited you're invited too.
The Maritime Rag It's ragtime, it's the Maritime rag!
New Age of Sun Blinded, you can't see. there's more light than you can believe. now songs like pearls on twine fall off one at a time. (chorus) New age, of sun, new age of sun, falling, yes I'm falling, into one. . . . Voices are rising, speaking, on the wind. now rays of ice break in the morning light. (chorus) Moonlight on the sea will fade eventually, the source that was within now will begin again. (chorus)
No Explanation You know you're only wasting and it's someone else's time. When you're gonna get there well your guess is good as mine. You know the higher up you go the farther down you fall. What you tried to sell me well it wasn't no good at all. It's all part of the situation, it's all part of the show, it's all part of the explanation that you don't want us to know. you got your hammer working and you're looking for some glass, careful what you wish for 'cause you might just get what you ask. you know you tried to bring me down with another sinking spell, that's the risk you're taking when you keep going down to that well. It's all part of the situation, it's all part of the show, it's all part of the information that you don't want us to know. When I wake up I'm not mistaken, it's time for the information, when I wake up I'm not mistaken, it's time for the education, when I wake up I'm not mistaken, no time for investigation, when I wake up I'm not mistaken, it's time for the explanation, it's time for the explanation, it's time for the explanation, it's time for the explanation. It's all part of the situation, it's all part of the show. It's all part of a destination that you don't want us to know, you don't want us to know, no you don't want us to go, you don't want us to know.
The Nowhere Blues Everybody sees the way you've been pushing, trying to make it back here through the waves. banged up and bruised, losing time, you got the days confused it's true. now it's you who's got the nowhere blues. Everyone's going down slow when you make it back to that burned out scene, ain't nothing new, you struggle in vain, they're all trying to do the same. This waiting game is called the nowhere blues, don't sail away into the nowhere blues. Everyone says what you need ain't what you want. well they're all just trying to get where they're supposed to be too. Just ain't no use, snow and rain, you're pushing through it like a train. The same train runs through the nowhere blues as the day breaks right on the nowhere blues. Solid rain, feel the pain go away. What you feel when this is real makes you stay. Now the city lights are shining, they shine red white and blue for you. Out past the dunes, far away, I can hear the music play as the waves crash on the nowhere blues, yeah the waves crash on the nowhere blues, this waiting game is called the nowhere blues, don't sail away . . .
O-Dawg Stomp-
The Picture Fades
One more drink and i'll be gone, looks like another dawn, the spring rains have come and gone, i've seen the seasons change. now the cold is setting in, ice and snow make the days grow thin and winter seems like it won't end, I've seen the seasons change. here are the seasons, clear at last but the picture fades just as fast, it's just the sense of it i get and i don't understand it yet. There'll be wine and roses when you come to that field 'neath the summer sun, there's one true love for everyone, i've seen love go by. now it's just a game you play, a careless heart's easy to break and who's to say how long I'll stay anyway? here is love clear at last but the picture fades just as fast, it's just the sense of it i get and i don't understand it yet. hardship's long and it's true it's always love that gets you through to something real and something new, i've seen time pass. now the older ones are gone, once dear friends are headed on, fast and slow we move along, i've seen time pass. so here we are, clear at last but the picture fades just as fast, it's just the sense of it i get and i don't understand it yet.
(instrumental)
Quicksand He packed up all his bags where no one would see them, he never had to settle down, he never had a reason. he tried to tie up all his lose ends and put them in the past, all except one remained he swore it'd be the last. Hell and fire in the sky and rock upon the road were not enough to stop him he had to go alone. there was a flame in the sky bound to follow him, the words echoed in his head as he repeated them. (chorus) If not today then tomorrow, if not tomorrow then the next day 'cause the day after that I've gone away. . . . on the low horizon where the mountains meet the sky just beyond the desert where nothing is alive the time was drawing near but would he have all that he needed? the mistakes of the past were bound to be repeated. nothing out there can survive, the night slips away like sand, you'll have to make it back before it gets light, so many years you've been running away now you might not get a chance . . .(chorus) Steady in his gaze in the silence of the sun he was only waiting for the end to come. there was not a way to speak the words to her before he faded to the night forever more.
Ready, Willing
Lost in the city, left there for dead, caught in the moment, shuffled like a deck, buried by trouble, burned out like a light, washed up in summer, rolled out with the tide, now i'm ready, willing, but unable to change your mind. dragged through the gutter, betrayed on the street, tossed like a ship, stranded at sea. the wind it was raging, the skies they did pour and we were like children in the midst of the storm. now i'm ready, willing, but unable to change your mind. somehow you opened our eyes and let in the sun's golden rays, now it's too late and we see the stone roll back into place. it's time to get going i'm dead in my tracks though it's just a bit farther to go to get bacl and we know where we're headed. that slow motion crash so we'll drink and we'll sing and believe this will last. , now i'm ready, willing, but unable to change your mind

Reward A plane crash in mexico sent Billy Demiles in a fiery hole, h e was the only one who made it out alive and let me tell you, you'll wish he never survived. he was all alone in the desert heat with nothing to drink and no food to eat when suddenly two men passed by, they saved his life just in the nick of time. policemen coming 'round the bend, "I'll tell you no lies, we're wanted men and if they catch us we're as good as dead, I'm sorry to say there's a reward out on our heads." i f he would have known what he knew right now he would've never walked inside the door to what he had in store, he'd kill a man just to get the reward. b lack is black and white is white, "please don't let billy live tonight!" and billy said "I don't think so son," then he went and reached down for his gun. shot 'em down, shot 'em dead, shot 'em both and then he fled, l eft 'em there right on the barroom floor. I don't need to tell you he went to get the reward. you can do it once, you can do it twice, it's a gamble every time you roll the dice and if you're headed down that lonesome road nothing gained is one less thing that's owed. Billy Demiles was a bad bad man, held a gun in both his hands and if you see him you better lock the door 'cause something tells me he never got the reward.
Roll On Highway is for gamblers, lucky men and thieves, highway is for robbing men. I'm on my way on a rolling southbound plane, never making any kind of sound. looks like I'm heading back to town. the smoke is rising, don't turn away. ain't it just like every buddy says, you'll be seeing better days instead. shadows take prisoners be careful where you tread coming over the barren field. soon you will be leaving a penny in the well and everything keeps falling down like hell. (chorus) roll on, just keep going. roll on, just keep rolling. there's no reason to stay around here, can't you see that summer's gone? if you're asking me might as well roll on. . . . when the open highway stretches before you t o where I cannot say you can judge the young, you can judge the old, just keep the trouble from your mind, keeps me worried running all the time. i n the open ground on the other side of town, the fires mark the graves. (chorus)
Rosehill Promenade I'm not the one who's been stuck in the past, sooner or later times will change, now I'm going down to rose hill promenade to wait out the weather 'cause it's raining all day. sometimes it's different, sometimes the same, I'm thinking I'm swimming here standing in the rain. out on the streets faces just disappear and no one remembers just why they came. it's the wettest eyes that can see the most clear, ain't no looking back going down the highway. just follow the lines as the music plays, yeah I wish that I'd saved up for rainy days. it's falling steady, the city lies still, it's rolling like tears down my window pane. the sky's growing dark up on over the hill, you're fading away like a slow parade. sometimes it's different, sometimes the same, at rose hill promenade it rains every day. regret's catching up to me, no time to sleep, wake up from a dream to find I'm not awake. I'm tired I'm thirsty and I'm ready to leave but I just keep trying to drink you away. can't wait out the weather when skies always grey, now I wish that I'd saved up for rainy days
Running Late Now the light has gone away I'm in the dark and I don't mind. 'cause the sun it breaks the day I'll get over it one more time. So tonight we'll pretend that the world's stopped turning once again and all that's changed we'll wait to feel but we'll reinvent the wheel in the morning and I know I'm running late. and the world keeps spinning around, but it slows down just for you and I'm running late. April rains come down on me, you can heal this wounded pride, but you know it's slow like leaving, some things take a while. So tonight we'll pretend that the world's stopped turning once again and all that's changed we'll wait to feel but we'll reinvent the wheel in the morning and I know I'm running late. and the world keeps spinning around, but it slows down just for you and I'm running late, yeah I'm running late, and the world keeps spinning around, but it slows down just for you and I'm running late.
Set Me Free The river runs wild beneath the stars at night, the darkness is deep and the wind is high. as i restlessly sleep you're always on my mind. i'll be gone in the new morning light. well the winter winds came about a month ago. they came sweeping down plains and the fields are cold. now when the sun goes down i need someone to hold on this road filled with dark rain and snow. somewhere the moon it shines bright on the empty streets, i know tomorrow we're gone like the falling leaves. and as you walk the high hill will you think of me? this love will kill me or set me free.
Seven Years of Bad Luck You went deep in a cave exploring a world but you never returned, nature is cruel, you never learned, the waters rise, the wind it turns, nature is cruel. (chorus) seven years of bad luck, falling rain, you keep planting seeds but they wash away, might as well drink wine, celebrate, remember the good times when they fade away. . . . we need a miracle, has anybody seen one? I can't feel what used to mean so much. another moon going down, but that is no miracle. it's the divine in a work of genius, it's a child born from two of us, you were a miracle. (chorus)
Slain Gold guitars and tiny stars tell the story of ours. Love lost too late, far gone and far apart. always grey rain upon the northern plains, in no man's land here lies the boy she's slain. (chorus) that boy is dead, he's lost his mind, that's how it is sometimes when you lose your prime. that boy is dead, he's lost his soul, it's hard to see sometimes in the devil's cove. . . . In the distance he sees she's come at last but here's just ruins of forgotten past. Lone grey rider, he sees the wild blue eyes, searching for him, he's on the other side. (chorus)
Special of the Day Dark clouds over the hills, there's a high pass, you'll see it on your way into town. you're searching, looking around as the headlights through the night rain cover the ground. they're coming through miles of dark, they're coming from over far, but this all happened before in the flash of an eye of a violin woman highway riding child, riding on. now they're coming from miles around this place looking for what can fill that space, searching, what will they find? and they're wishing the answer's in the town that's down the road awhile at the crossroads where they're coming from town to town to town to town . . . they're coming for the special of the day. bright lights blind your eyes, between what's wrong and right there's a fine line. they're distracting troubled minds, pedaling fool's gold, it's hollow inside but polished to shine. down the dark streets the session is closed in the back rooms where they're counting the votes and they don't care what the truth is, if you don't buy it they'll still get rich selling lies. and the prophets preaching the end say it's close now, time to repent and they don't know but you don't care, they can't all be right but we're too scared to deny, the wind it wails as darkness swallows light. they're looking around and there is no proof in sight. they just keep wishing it's over in the town that's down the road awhile past the crossroads where they're coming from town to town to town to town . . . they're coming for the special of the day
Stand Down. I don't want to hold you up if you got to go, everything was fast but now I think it's moving slow. I know the answers are a bottle and a barrel of laughs, before you know it they'll be writing on our epitaphs. a ll the lights they blur on my way home, it's a wonder that we ever got to where we're going. you're the space between the lines on the pages in the book I read, if you want to be the hero in the story you gotta stay a step ahead (chorus)one of these days I'm gonna leave, take myself right out of town, it's the same thing that you ask of me, if I stand up will you stand down? . . . when we get to where we're going gonna stop and take a look around 'cause if evil wind is blowing we'll drive on, not make a sound. we're pushing and we're pulling 'cause we know we got a point to make but if you want to go forever gonna need a little give and take. night is gonna come it's gonna change our minds again 'cause you're getting through the days but have you really been living? t hough you're learning you're forgetting more than you know but if you want to calm the water, boy you know you got to let it go (chorus)
The Start of Something New Late nights, lonely street light, without you. it's the hour and the start of something new. bad dreams, it was a crowded scene i lost you. you were enamored with the start of something new. tired eyes, forever grey skies, won't be soon till the hour and the start of something new. you were blind it never crossed your mind what you could lose. now you devour the start of something new. now it seems you had these dreams and it's true, it's the hour and the start of something new. now it's late, got to find a way to make it through and try to hold on to the start of something new.
Teleport I'm sitting here wishing you were near, the bridge is high under the morning sky and i promise you that i'll be true for when the night is dark the shooting stars are like fireworks and it makes me sure that you're too far, i couldn't take a car, couldn't catch a plane, no fucking train and this driving rain doesn't help the pain, wish i could teleport, appear at your door, if i could teleport i'd be there before you thought i could. the night is long so i'll sing this song, as the year grows old the leaves turn to gold, fall to the ground but they don't make a sound, yeah they float silently like distant galaxies that were formed from dust, and it's the same for us, can't make nothing last, time moves too fast. baby it's not fair i'm here and you are there with this dream we shared, i'd meet you anywhere if I could teleport, i'd be at your door, wish i could teleport, what could mean more? what could mean more? what could mean more? what could mean more? wish i could teleport
Traveling Man Working out in the mountains, running out 'round the world. sailing out to Paris with the Queen of Monaco's pearls, he's a master of illusion with a full house in his hand, he's been all around the whole wide world but now he's just a traveling man. Next stop Argentina, then good old Mexico, over top the Andes, the bottom of the globe. Seven more days in Rio was all that he could stand, he's been all around the whole wide world and now he's just a traveling man. He's going down in history, he's going down in history oh lord. He went down to Brooklyn, he went out to France, he went back to memphis to see the King at last, drank his way to Vegas 'till he could barely stand, he's been all around the whole wide world and now he's just a traveling man. One thing that's for certain his luck would never last, lost his money in a card game and his mind back in the past. you can scream out on the highways, you can stargaze all you can, you can look all around the whole wide world but now he's just a traveling man. He wound up in Asia, where he wouldn't tell, tempted and forsaken, he had been through hell. back on down the road and praying for the promised land, he's been all around the whole wide world and now he' just a traveling man. He's going down in history, he's going down in history oh lord. When they founded California he was standing tall, orbiting the planet and life was much too small. He settled down into Houston said traveling be damned, he's been all around the whole wide world and he'll always be a traveling man.
Up To You When the day is done and night is finally come light will slowly disappear and we will all return to the place we were before we were ever even here. you keep waiting for some salvation but it won't come to you, where you're going to, like I told you it's up to you. you can hesitate until it is too late but you will never know unless you try, so open up your eyes and see the stars that shine like diamonds in the night time sky. it don't matter that people scatter. we must go our own ways. you know something is gonna come, it's bound to change. to let it all go by and climb the highest cloud is never quite as easy as it seems. you must remember to forget until you finally learn to follow in the meaning of these dreams. but you're on fire in the night time when desire kicks in, so you stand and shout commands at the howling wind. now we've gone so late we might as well just stay awake until the crystal dawn. so we drink to keep us warm until we are reborn and pass away the time inside a song. you're forgiven, take a chance on living it's all you can do. like i told you where you're going to it's up to you.
War of 9161 (the Pledge)
Inside the city waits, outside the gates now, the wind began to blow for days, the sun was black with smoke, the time was close now when a messenger arrived alone. the news he did bring, it told of thunder and the madness of a distant king, on the 7th day they lit candles as the towns began to burn away. it was a night so long, while some remained others knew they'd soon be gone. where the women lay they were whispering the men have surely been betrayed. their cries made lightening freeze and scattered rocks as the wind it shook the mighty trees, before first light a caravan escaped into the raging night. I pledge myself to you, and you can trust me with the news it's surely true. i will be swift, till next we meet i good luck my friend you will be missed. the way is dark and signifies you'll find the truth lies in your heart and this you must believe for it comes from nothing, the world that you can never see
Wintertime I didn't see it there but it comes round once a year, the feeling that you lost something you found. You stumble on the truth that the people you once knew are packing up and moving out of town. There's a place they'd rather be, it's far away from here, the fruit is always righteous on the vine. but everything grows old and comes in from the cold, that wintertime might change your mind. I don't mind if the sun don't shine if you've been wasting all my time, I just want to make it mine. A step is all it takes to lead so far away from who it was that you were meant to be, like losing anything back in places that you've been so you better count your change before you leave. I didn't hear the sound, it was hidden by the crowd, it means nothing left to find so walk away, then you can begin to start over again and leave the past behind like yesterday. and the mountains they will fall into the sea and they'll be gone like promises we once believed were true and under the blue sky by the riverside I will still be waiting just for you. I don't mind if the sun don't shine if you've been wasting all my time, all I need is a sign, that wintertime might change your mind, wintertime might change your mind . . .
Wrong Side When the past comes back to haunt you and you're living in Florida and life's a joy to wake each day and to see her pretty face, well now he's on the run now, gotta make that judgement date with a greedy lawyer and a southern court and a D. A. holds the fate. Nine years worth of living, trapped up in a cage, what a waste to be sent away at such a tender age. He woke up in the morning and everything was gone, the price he paid for that crime in Dade when he proved the right ones wrong. (chorus) He never saw the final straw and now he's on the wrong side of the law. when you can't see in the future 'cause you can't forget the past you're on the wrong side of the law, side of the law, side of the law, wrong side of the law. . . . When you're going down to South Beach and you look so hard to find the simple way he passed the day in the corner of his mind, well farewell sandy beaches the sun has gone away, how can he go on so long without the light of day? All that's back behind him, gotta learn to face the truth, the dream he had turned out so bad now there's nothing left to lose. now he sees the shadows and the writing on the wall, he wouldn't know how to be free until he lost it all. (chorus)
