BULEMICS EURO TOUR REPORT SECOND PART
ANTWERP (BELGIUM) : We woke up late
in the morning and we got the news from the mechanic that the van is
really fucked up and it could take weeks to be fixed , so we decided to
leave it in Ede and rented a new one...We spent like 2 hours on the
phone trying to get a new one the same day and finally we found a
company that had one avaible at a very good rate but the place is like
over an hour drive from Ede, and again Joke saved our asses taking us
to the place with her car! The new van we got was awesome, finally a
good one, and a Mercedes as well!! So it was already mid afternoon
when we returned to Ede,and in no time we loaded all the gear . We had
some of our stuff in Debora's apartment but some other stuff was
still in the old van that was parked in front of the mechanic, only
problem was that the mechanic was nowhere to be found and he had the
key, but Ram didn't think twice and in a few seconds opened it from one
of the window...In a few minutes we emptied it all from everything and
took the license plates...it looked like a movie-scene. The show in
Antwerp fuckin ruled, Bar Mondial was a class A venue, with nice &
clean rooms upstairs, huge backstage, great dinner, lots of
alcohol...brother Captain Catastrophy (next tour you should ride with
us the whole time!!) played awesome punk records for a few hours after
the show. One of my fave nights of the tour! The day after we hanged
out in Antwerp, which is a really beautiful city with lots of castles
and churches old as Christ, someway along the road we ended up in the
sleazy red light district , first time the Texans saw a hooker in a
window.
DEN HAAG (NETHERLANDS) :
We went back to the Netherlands & tonight 3 more bands were
scheduled on the bill : The Bastard Sons Of El Duce (unfortunately not
a Mentors cover band, me & Gerry hoped it ,but an Oi! group, not
bad at all) , Low Point Drains (kick ass blues punk from NL) and
Everything Must Go (cool guys from Oakland, California). Gerry scared
the shit out of the audiance again. I had many expectations for
this show, but for some reason (could be that the crowd was pretty cold
or could be that after the show the place ran out of beer....goddamn!!)
there wasn't the right atmosphere and I didn't have too much fun that
night . What I surely hate about Den Haag is that its a city infested
by every kind of scumbag, junkie and thief , so I recommended to the
guys to take everything from the van... Well, we got robbed anyway,
they broke into the brand new van (that we just got the day before!!!)
and stole the radio and Gerry's I-pod (so we did the rest of the tour
with no music at all, fantastic) ....Also Everything Must Go got robbed
and for them was even worse, they got their GPS stolen... Next time
I'll come back in this lovely town I'll surely sleep in the van with a
loaded gun under my pillow. What really sucks, is that we basically
spent the same amount of money we got as payment from the show for the
parking (it was something like 3/4 Euros per hour!!!) and then we got
the van opened!!!.... Nice!
KORTRJIK (BELGIUM) :
So the night before kinda sucked , but we couldn't care less cause we
were headin back to Belgium for a Friday night show at The Pit's ,# 1
ROCK N ROLL VENUE IN THE WORLD! Friday night at The Pit's ? You
can't get anything better than that in this part of the Western World!
Every great band in the last 20 years played here (from Eyehategod to
New Bomb Turks, the Mummies, Crowbar, ANTiSEEN, Cocknoose etc) .... This
night fuckin ruled! We had the BEST DINNER of the all tour ....Holy
shit that steak was fantastic....THANKS SO MUCH ! After 2 weeks of
sandwiches and pasta a great fuckin steak is what real men on
tour need. The show ruled, the opening band - The Filth - ruled
(finally some real hardcore band), everyone in the crowd ruled, sold a
bunch of merch.....The Pit's is always a good time. After the show we
went to another bar and did what we do best : drinking till death!
EINDHOVEN (NETHERLANDS) :
Last show in The Netherlands! The Rambler is a real nice club, and the
people that work here are nice and friendly as hell (thanks Wendy you
got me drunk!!) . The show was kinda weird cause all the people
stayed away from the stage (shy? scared?) , but I think that everyone
liked it. After the show we drink for probably 6 hours straight (lots
of shots of local booze, and that Flugel)... we walked out of the club
and it was already morning with the sun shining....fuckin' crazy. We
arrived at Tim's house (thanks for the hosplitality bro) after the
longest walk possible and I was so fucked up that I almost collapsed in
the bathroom. Slept 2 hours and hit the road again....BRUTAL !
MUNSTER (GERMANY) : Back
in the Fatherland for 3 more shows....This show wasn't really crowded
at all, it sucks cause also two good German bands played Drugstop and
Memphis Creeps and the club , The Triptychon was really cool... What's
going on in Germany these days ? No one's into PUNK ROCK anymore or
what ? Where are all the ANTiSEEN or Zeke fans (I KNOW there are a
bunch of them up there) ? Really sad... Bulemics played a really
short set then we spent the night drinking with the supercool
bartenders and the soundman (great guy with lots of great stories to
tale). Funny thing about the show is that MXPX played in another club
in the same building but downstairs. I really never heard about these
guys, but Bulemics told me they are big in the Usa and that....they are
christians!!! Christian punk rock ??? Gimme a fuckin' break !!!!! I
know Gerry went downstairs at some point opened a door somebody from
the band was in there and Gerry yelled some Satanic shit at them and
shut the door...haha....
HAMBURG (GERMANY) : Hamburg
fuckin ruled in my opinion! I was really excited to comeback in Sin
City and especially in the St.Pauli neighbourhood where The Beat Club
is located, right in the middle of the red light district. It was a
Monday night so I didn't really expect more than 20 people, there were
probably less but the guys ruled like they were playin in front of
hundreds. Peter got really wild and ended playin in his
underwear....there were really few folks there but seemed like they
were really enjoying the show, and that's what really matters at the
end and what makes the show memorable or shitty. Another thing I love
about the Beat Club is that its so small that you don't really need a
lot of people to play a crowded show, kinda like The Pits. We got lots
of free beer from the supercool bartender, then we went out for a walk
and more drinking right in the middle of a huge porn district, pretty
amazing for a monday night!!!
BERLIN (GERMANY ) : Berlin
was supposed to be a blast, I thought ....it ended up as the greatest
lowdown of the all tour. Everything seemed to be against us that night,
starting from the fact that Texas Terri couldn't make it to the show to
sing "Tie Me Up" (Johnny Thunders cover from the "Product Of America"
7" on Scarey) with the Bulemics. Everyone of us was really tired and
not in really good shape not only for the party of the night before but
for the whole tour, playin' everynight, doin' LOTS of party, with no
dayoffs. Around eleven So Fucking What started , there's not a lot of
people maybe 30/40, but everyone's really into them....SFW were
AMAZING! Last time I saw them in 2005 they were playin Punk Rock and
now they transformed themselves in a straight Country band, and they
rocked. Too bad that just few minutes after SFW finished, the room was
cleared. EVERYONE left . POSERS!!! So
when Bulemics took the stage of The Wild At Heart, there's probably 5
people near the stage, but none of them really gave a flyin shit about
the band, so after 4 songs the show is over (around 6 or 7 minutes
probably). Well done guys, you don't need that crap, if Berlin doesn't
recognize the greatness and the Satanic powers of The Bulemics, it can
go to hell. To make things clear, I LOVE BERLIN, this time were
probably very unlucky, cause usually its always a good time. And thanks
a lot to the Wild At Heart and especially Dirk from SFW for doin' his
best booking this show . PRAGUE (CZECH REPUBLIC) : The
drive from Berlin to Prague was crazy as usual, you are supposed to get
there in 3 hours but could take 6...Almost all the drive from one city
to the other is on a one lane street, so you can't drive fast, that's
good so you can see the hookers and their sleazy bungalows from your
window, they are there right on the "highway"!! It sucked that we
didn't have time to visit the awesome city of Prague (one of the most
beautiful in Europe), but it took forever to find the KLUB 007 even
with the GPS. The band supposed to play didn't make it, and some other
band from France on tour offered to play. Don't remember their name,
and did't pay much attention at their music (being some kind of screamo
hardcore, stuff i don't understand, gimme Keith Richards riffs please)
but Josh said they were good at what they did and for being so young.
Bulemics show was fun, crowd really enjoyed it! We got some beers in a
real nice pub after the show and met some real nice people, but not a
lot of party that night , the day after 10 hours drive were awaiting
us!!
VICENZA (ITALY) : I'm
excited for the last 4 shows in Italy. The first one in Vicenza at Bar
Sartea (weird place, fancy bar/restaurant during the day , RnR club at
night) was a blast! Lots of people tonight many for the local band
Radio Riot Right Now, that were pretty good! Enrico & Albe
will get the prize for the best promoters of the tour, you did a kick
ass job!!! Thanks to the bartender for ALL the free booze aftter the
show.
MILANO (ITALY) : Fuck
yeah tonight I finally saw my girlfriend Erika and lots of friends
again, so i was pretty happy about that. It was a hell of fun,
Easygirls opened the night with their ugly scum rock n roll, they were
fun, and they had a bunch of crazy fans...great work on GG Allin's
cover! Then Long Dong Silver played, and they ruled as always!!
Highlight of their show was when Gerry jumped on stage to sing Dead
Boys cover "Caught with the Meat in Your Mouth" with Samu. Sweet! Now
I'd like to say a couple of things of the venue Palazzo Granaio that
kinda sucked to me . First , we had the LONGEST soundcheck
ever! Were you fucking serious? Ok the stage was huge, so I understand
it takes more than the small bar, but c'mon its simply retarded. Second
we got dinner too goddamn late. Third, some people entered without
paying cause no one was at the fuckin door taking the money for like
an hour and that's not good being a door deal...Fourth, one
drinking ticket each band member?? Are you serious? Hey we are BEER
DRINKERS! we drink tons of it (is it that difficult for the club to buy
3 cases of the shittiest discounted beer for the bands? you can get
over 60 cans for less than 30 Euros)... but what really pissed me off
badly, is that you don't tell me that show MUST BE over because of
cops at 2:00 , at 1:55....yelling at me. At 1:55 Bulemics were just in
the middle of their fast as fuck set ....So even it the show was a
blast, everyone was having fun, stage was going to be destroyed, mike
stands flying around, raining beer, people finally moving (we had to
come down to Italy to finally see some people really moving at shows) ,
they had to cut most of their second part of the set .... This pisses
me off cause if we knew this before , the other bands would have
started earlier.... The second after Bulemics left the stage, people
were kicked out of the club, so we couldn't say to no one, it sucked
there were friends i haven't seen in ages....Club sucked but show
ruled! And after show party ruled!!!
CERVO, IMPERIA (ITALY) : The
place where Bulemics and Long Dong Silver (again) played on the very
last saturday of the tour is called Babilonia and is a very small
squat, in a small and quiet village by the sea, very nice. We got
probably the second best dinner of the tour , and unlimited wine and
beer unlike last night. Long Dong Silver ruled but during thei set
apparently some people in the crowd got offended by Samu's (LDS singer)
nudity and left the room... what the fuck? are you christians? Bulemics
show was wild, so wild that both Gerry and Josh got injured during the
show! After the show we went to sleep in some really nice house and the
day after we got an awesome lunch with some cool as fuck people!! Italy
was treating us really good, and that moment Bulemics decided that it
was their favorite country in Europe, Belgium second, haha. The drive
to Torino was really scenic with all the mountains and rivers
and narrow streets.
TORINO (ITALY) : Back
in my hometwon, my loved and most of the times hated Torino. United
Club rules! Here's where we spent the first night before the tour
started, 3 weeks ago, and here is ending with the last show of the
tour! Thumbs up for the great dinner!!! We got rabbit and it was really
good! Tonight we saw Joke, Debora and JP again they flew from Holland
and arrived the day before and will return our rented van to Holland
the day after! It was cool drinking and partying with them again! Opening
band was Gonzales from Veneto, fuckin awesome band! Check these guys
out, they're the best Rock N Roll band in Italy at the moment together
with Long Dong Silver and Antares. Bulemics played GREAT! Really
intense show! People was scared of Gerry!!! First song they were all in
the front , second song eveyone was standing against the walls or in
the back of the room, haha, people is so used of fake and shitty punk
and hardcore that when they realize they're seeing a real band that put
some danger in what they do, they don't know how to react . Played all
set fast as fuck as usual and left the stage, came back for a couple of
encores and then its over, tour's over! Fuck no!!!!! Great after show
party!
I want to thank Ram, Peter,
Josh & Gerry for sharing with me 3 of the greatest and funniest
weeks of my life... I LOVE YOU (hey its not gay if we don't kiss right
? )
