i'm already blogging this on another site called Tj Tuning, but thought i'd post it up here :)
17/06/2009 With the girlfriend leaving me on Sunday, my parents said i need a new hobby. After standing in thought for 5 seconds i said to my dad, "i wouldn't mind doing bantam racing." My dad looked at me, and said ok
So i get home from work last night and sit down on the couch, and my dad said to me "still interested in this bantam idea?" i said "yeah why" Dad replied, "you can pick it up on monday"
So on monday i now have the start of a long bantam project, getting it ready for racing
it's all there apart from the yokes and forks but i'm going to go with tz 125 forks as you can't have modern USD forks. Still debating whether to build it to 125cc or 175cc. At college at the moment, so i'm looking for parts on ebay
22/06/2009 lol just got in :|

 Dad's car full of Bantam

I know it doesn't look like much, but it's a start. A few months and it will be ready for racing

I finally got round to stripping the engine this week, bout an hour and a bit (mostly spent finding imperial measurement spanners and sockets) but it's all ready to rebuild after i go to Lydden on the 2nd of august. Got invited by some of the riders so i can get an idea of what they're running, as racing wont start untill 12 due to local bylaws, so i have a 3 hour question time

well it's been a rather productive afternoon. cleaning and polishing the rear wheel didnt exactly go to plan. all the chrome is chipped on the rim, but the brake carrier is all spick and span. might even touch that up with some paint. the front wheel rim didnt look as damaged, so i polished the rim on that, and my dad said he will help me switch the rims over next week. My dad has also given me a set of rd350 powervalve forks, yokes, and the wheel spindle, so i have almost a complete front end next job is to rub the frame down for powder coating
Rear wheel before

outside rim cleaned, insides too damaged

front wheel rim to go on

rear brake holder before

powervalve forks

ok, so the wheel turned up, and it actually fits onto the powervalve spindle :D also, it looks like it may in fact take an Rs disc (y)
heading down the workshop later to spray the caliper :) neon orange all the way :D

pics of the caliper, got the first 2 layers of orange on today, will finish tomorrow
27/08/09
caliper's all lacquered and ready (just needs pads) and i'm in the process of buying a complete front end off of Tony Davis from his old bantam, just got to talk to him and arrange a date to pick it up.

bought the front end and brembo master cylinder suzuki forks, custom 17inch wheel (better tyre choice) old suzuki brake caliper, yokes, and clip ons

next plan is to mock up the chassis so we can position footrests etc and finally have a rolling chassis. Going to phone up brian white about the engine work, so that'll save a bit of time and a lot of money from there i can tune it to suit my needs :)
