In the last two weeks I have:

Been at the bottom of the map
Run across the top of the Levee
Fed baby roosters
Been chased by a herd of cattle
Explored a 200 year old Naval Fort with my father
Explored some Mississippi Delta with Widespread Panic in my ears
Drove all night
Caught up on sleep
Watched the sun pour itself into a glassy Gulf of Mexico
Watched the sun retire behind the banks of an angry Mississippi River
Consoled an old black man, bawling for a wife who had just had a stroke
Realized the sadder reality that he was senile and was reliving a years-old event
Disagreed with a stranger
Stuck up for a friend
Lost forty bucks on video poker
Won $18.75
Played 12 of the most frustrating gigs of my short career
Played 27 holes of golf .... also frustrating
Sat in with a smokin' blues band on Beale Street and held my own.

In two more weeks, my Great Aunt Marian might not be with us. She received word that she has less than one month to live due to an aggressive tumor. Everyone is limited to their perspective but over the last two weeks I have had a pretty good view. I hope Aunt Marian will be able to say the same.

Save some compassion for the ones who made it so.
