So yesterday mid-day I picked up a non-working old amp from Music Brokers on Central in PHX. It's an Airline 62-9015A amp, made for Montgomery Wards by Valco sometime in the early-mid 1960's. It's got 2x12" speakers and runs probably around 20-30 watts. Has reverb and tremolo. BEST OF ALL, the thing was spray-painted green sometime in the past... so given some wear on the corners and a little peeling tolex, this thing is a cosmetic disaster. Got a smoking deal on the thing, 'cause it's been sitting on the floor at the shop for months now (and it didn't work). In short order I figured out that one of the old power tubes (6L6GC) had given out and taken a resistor with it. I replaced the resistor, put some new filter caps in, and installed some new power tubes. I also re-glued a couple loose corners of the cabinet overnight. Now, except for being green, the amp is in top condition... I've played LOUD on it for a few hours, and can say that it's got a great natural overdrive. The reverb is cheese, but the tremolo sounds fantastic. Not fender-like in any way, but still a very cool amp.
Posted the thing on Craigslist tonight, will see if there's any takers here in PHX in the next few days. Though, I wouldn't mind trying this beast out with the Worrymen for a practice or two? who knows. It's not easy being green.

note that I added a short video in the "my videos" section, it shows me playing through the amp at a few different settings.
