America has a real problem, and it is the absolute insanity of the political right in this country. If this group were diagnosed as an individual they would have a prety complex case history. Delusions of granduer, megalomania, a persecution complex, sociopath tendencies, free floating anxieties, pathological lying, and paranoid schizophrenia all fit the political right. They manifest all these characteristics in abundance.

The right wing has become a pack of screeching loonies who have gone completely over the edge, howling insane blither about Obama’s birth certificate and “government death panels” and such. Every day finds them blithering about one absolutely delusional fantasy or another. They are ready to secede one day and proclaim themselves the only American patriots the next. They wave the flag constantly, but are mostly too cowardly to serve in the military. Such service is beneath them and they would never let their children go off to fight the wars they proudly pretend to support. When it comes time to pay for the fiascos their insipid president got our troops engaged in, these hypocrites demand A TAX CUT. All the while the rightwingers blither that the Democrats are useless spendthrifts.

The Democrats also want to intrude into their lives with things like more choices for healthcare with greater consumer protections, but they see it differently. That’s why they insisted on the Patriot Act, to lessen government intrusion into our lives. They also want to keep the horrid Federal Gumment out of peoples’ bizness by: banning abortions, the morning after pill, gay marriage, keeping sodomy laws, and generally having the gumment legislate their false brand of morality.

Right wingers really fear government intrusion. Why no government should be allowed to enforce standards for clean air and water, uncontaminated foods, pharmaceuticals that actually work, labor laws to protect real people, hurricane relief, or any such stupidity. Instead the agencies that perform these duties should be turned over to incompetents and shills for the industry that they oversee. Why every good right wing nut job knows that government is not supposed to be about making America a better place for all PEOPLE. The gumment should instead be the agency to insure profit for the few. Instead of helping people with mortgages the gumment should insure the profits of the banks.

Those few are better than the rest of us. Why if we just shut the fuck up and do as our betters tell us then all problems would be solved. Bush didn’t completely fuck up the whole Iraq thing. Democrats did! They forced him to do political things he didn't need to do if he didn't have to answer to pussies who oppose torture and bombing the shit out of everything. Hell they even kept him from attacking the REAL enemy: Iran!

“Conservatives” are better than the rest of us, or so they delude themselves. The reality is quite different.
Republicans were once the business party; the party of getting things done, building factories, creating jobs, turning America into an economic power house, and enriching themselves by making America stronger. Todays’ Republicans ( with the exception of the decent folk who still hold these values) are a pack of scum who believe themselves entitled to the good life because they are better and they are American. And these folks don’t care how many sand-n***ers need to die to keep gas at $2.00 a gallon because as Americans they deserve it. Why it in the Constitution and the Babble. Instead of actually working for a living, they prefer to fuck over other people, then convince themselves that the other guy deserved it. Hell it isn’t corruption or fraud, it’s just bizness.

Mostly the wing nuts are mad. They can’t blame themselves. It’s gotta be someone else’s fault that they don’t have that great job or million dollar business. They are mad because they failed. Personally their failure can’t be because they are drunks, or stupid, or poor business people, or such sociopaths that they couldn’t lead a Boy Scout troop in a stick rubbing roundup. Nope, it’s the gumment’s fault. Why it’s the gumment’s fault that the wife keeps doing all those stupid things no matter how many times you hit her. And Junior is a sociopath because the liberal society made him that way, despite all the two fisted loving and twice a week church attendance. It’s gumment’s fault ‘cause if those f**kin’ liberal ass Family Services people would stay out of it…

And the banker says he is a victim of gumment. He didn’t get fired for fraud and corruption and bad investments. Nope, he got fired because the gumment forced him to sell mortgages ( that earned him HUGE bonuses) to people who weren’t creditworthy. The gumment made him okay all those ninja loans. ( I heard this from a banker who I know is corrupt). And the developer isn’t bankrupt because he kept building McMansions on money he got from his corrupt banker friend and overextended himself. Nope! All the bribes to local officials to put in free of charge sidewalks and streetlights and sewers and stuff were supposed to insure he would always be rich, but it’s the gumment’s fault he went broke.

The scum on the right is mad. Why? Because they are better than everyone else and they didn’t fuck up America. It isn’t their fault. Why we should all shut the fuck up and let them run things as God intended. Why nigg (oops, those “politically correct” liberals made it impossible to say that) all them colored folk and wimmen should just leave all the voting and supervising stuff to them guys. That’s the way god demands it! And they didn’t make this mess. Not at all. We just didn’t REALLY give them any power to change enough stuff.

Nope, even though the Republiscum have essentially run this country since 1980, it isn't their fault America is so screwed up! America should be a Norman Rockwell painting of a white guy in a suit getting his shoes shined by a darkie, and the wife putting a pie on the window ledge, and the kids flying downhill on a Radio Flyer wagon with Spot chasing them. When they open their eyes and it ain't so they seethe with anger, the anger of a paranoid-schizophrenic sociopath with megalomaniacal tendencies and a propensity to pathological lying and self-delusion!

(I’m mad because I have heard just one too many lying scumbag on the right blame his fuckin’ failures on people who had nothing to do with it. This scumbag was a entitlement junkie and a lay about for years. He always got food stamps and whatever welfare he could. He always had a great scheme to make it rich one day. Always he went to family to finance yet another stupid fly-by-night fiasco. But once he got lucky. He had an opportunity to buy a business even he couldn’t fuck up.

So the family gave him the money to buy the business. This was money people had worked YEARS to save. They’d been working stiffs who built cars or labored in grimy factories. They gave because they thought that THIS time they could really help. Well they did. The scumbag got in just at the start of the housing boom. He went from being a jerk-off shyster to a neer-do-well businessman. He went from being a true liberal to a maniac rightwinger in ten seconds. Why because the whole construct fit his need to excuse himself from all his lies.

You see he didn’t pay his family back. He screwed ‘em all. When the business made money ( it couldn’t fail!) as part of the housing boom, he didn’t repay those who’d helped him. Instead he became a fancy ass Republican, a “self made man” as he told everyone. And he convinced no one more than himself!

But he does deserve a little credit. He got lucky at the height of the building boom and sold the business for a hefty profit. He did pay back - after ten years - the original sum he had borrowed ( with no interest or profit he promised). Problem is he bought a fancy house and the bust came. The Real Estate Bubble and the Credit Bubble that had allowed a scumbag to do well burst. His house is worth less than half the mortgage and his investments went down in value, not paying enough to cover his costs of being a neer-do-well. So now he complains that Obama is to blame. He did everything right and the gumment cheated him out of everything! Meanwhile the family membes who lent him his money are doing okay despite hard times. They are lucky enough to have jobs, and houses near the end of the mortgage, and a little money set aside. Instead of whining they just keep going to work. For them life was supposed to be just that. For the neer-do-well life has made him a victim.

He should be the Fox TV poster boy for the right wing nutjobs. They are mad and it is YOUR fault that their lives and America didn’t turn out as planned!)

Post Script: For Vic and the other honest Republicans out there:

These wingnuts identift themselves as "Republican" and "Conservative" which does NOT mean that they represent all of either group or that I see all Conservatives and Republicans as wingnuts. Anyone who has read my blogs over the last two years knows I repeatedly say "Give me back a Republican Party I can vote for!"

Yes, I agree with you.
This is a great blog but I am afraid that most people will not read it entirely to form an educated opinion and contribute.

Perhaps the fault, partially, is on the blogger side for being so passionate about the issue at hand to a degree that we forget that must people are not used to read (less to think).

The following contribution in another blog is an example, in support of my above statement, and I challenge the participants to prove me wrong by reading and replying, even if shortly, but by giving the impression that some gray matter have been used in the process (you will be the judge):

I read a comment on this blog that prompted me to reply in the following terms:
You got that right, I stated, in reference his statement "....If this isn't the biggest dang propaganda blog I've ever seen...."
The past administration's propaganda machine lied and convinced the whole world to wage war against Irak under the premise of its “implication with 911 attack and its possession of weapon of mass destruction”, assertion that President Bush admitted was not true, when questioned by surprise by members of the media during a press conference.
Watch it!!!!!!!

This war was financed with money borrowed from Communist China guaranteed with our taxes, making Communist China one of the largest holder of our external debt.

Then, as a last stab before leaving office, President Bush promoted a $700 Billion bailout for Wall Street to cover for their mismanagement of the American people finance. When Congress showed some reluctance to this the owners of the world banking system crashed the stock market.
Republicans now are claiming that the passing of a Public Health Care Option (to provide all American with Health Care is part of a “socialist agenda of the Obama and the Democratic Party”.
The homeowners that got their houses foreclosured by the banks can attest that your lender has a right over your property, according with our capitalism system.
Watch this video uploaded on February 2009:
Seems to be that few American are asking themselves; what would happen if Communist China decides to "secure" its “investment” in America?
Under this scenario I believe we would bypass the socialism stage and would jump from capitalism to communism, “American style” of course.
The point is that while the Republicans pawned the American country to the Communist China the conservative America neither the big interests in Washington campaigned against it and warned of the fact that they were selling America to a foreign country, whose economic system is diametrically opposed to our and that has surpassed us to a degree that they are already putting in place a plan to replace the American dollar with their own currency in the international transactions.
Ask yourself why they are establishing their factory abroad, transferring their earning to Swiss banks and buying properties outside of United States?
The signs of a sinking ship are well known by saylors around the world.
In other words, the Republican administration blowed it up, financially, in favor of the wealthy and now they, along with some blue dog democrats, are opposing the legislative measures that can get the American nation out of the mess that they left of with, just to blame it on President Obama.
As Senator Jim Demint stated: "If we're able to stop Obama on [health care reform], it will be his Waterloo. It will break him and we will show that we can, along with the American people, begin to push those freedom solutions that work in every area of our society."
Watch the video:
Please, get your facts straight. Don’t let them manipulate you. Show that you have a brain and that you can use it to form an intelligent opinion about what is at stake now concerning Public Health Care Option.
The following playlist will provide you with first hand information, as to what President Obama have proposed and what we, the grassroot movement for change have done so far in matter of Health Care Reform:
Here are the facts. Anyone can verify them by reading the bill at http://www.opencongress.org/bill/111-h3200/text
For your benefit here is an itemized count of lies, promoted by the insurance industry and other big interests in Washington, followed by the actual content of the Health Care Reform Bill, as submitted to me by email by Levana from hcan@healthcareforamericanow.org:
NOTE: AFTER READING THE BILL I HIGHTLIGHTED THE MOST INTERESTING PARTS WHICH I AM IN THE PROCESS OF RESEARCHING AND, TO COMPLETELY DISPEL ANY ISSUE ARISING OUT OF IT, I AM GOING TO REQUEST CLARIFICATION FROM OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS BY EMAIL AND IN PERSON, DURING MY SCHEDULED VISITS TO THEIR OFFICES.
Lie "Page 22: Mandates audits of all employers that self-insure!"
TRUTH: This is not an "audit," it's a study. Moreover, the bill states (pp. 22-23) that the report will "include any recommendations the Commissioner deems appropriate to ensure that the law does not provide incentives for small and mid-size employers to self-insure or create adverse selection in the risk pools of large group insurers and self-insured employers."
Lie "Page 29: Admission: your health care will be rationed!"
TRUTH: Page 29 continues to define the "essential benefits package" and discusses limits on what Americans will have to spend on health care under this minimum standard. In no way does this section stipulate the rationing of care.
Lie "Page 30: A government committee will decide what treatments and benefits you get (and, unlike an insurer, there will be no appeals process)"
TRUTH: Page 30 begins to describe the Health Benefits Advisory Committee which establishes certain minimum standards for health insurance plans. In no way does this committee deny treatments and benefits to Americans with health insurance.
Lie "Page 42: The 'Health Choices Commissioner' will decide health benefits for you. You will have no choice. None."
TRUTH: Page 42 begins to describe the Health Choices Commissioner's duties. The idea that this person will decide what benefits Americans receive is patently false, given that most Americans will keep their current plans under reform, and Americans within the exchange will have the choice of purchasing many different kinds of health plans. Rather, the Commissioner will establish minimum standards to protect Americans.
Lie "Page 50: All non-US citizens, illegal or not, will be provided with free healthcare services."
TRUTH: Pages 50-51 contain a provision stating that discrimination will not be allowed in the provision of health care services. Nowhere does the bill state that non-US citizens will be provided free health care services. The bill prohibits federal dollars from being used for undocumented immigrants.
Lie "Page 58: Every person will be issued a National ID Healthcard."
TRUTH: Page 58, in the context of a discussion of administrative standards, mentions that "determination of an individual's financial responsibility at the point of service and, to the extent possible, prior to service, including whether the individual is eligible for a specific service with a specific physician at a specific facility...may include utilization of a machine-readable health plan beneficiary identification card." In no way does the bill state that such a card would be national, or that it would be issued to every person, or that it would, in fact, be used at all.
Lie "Page 59: The federal government will have direct, real-time access to all individual bank accounts for electronic funds transfer."
TRUTH: Page 59 continues the discussion of administrative standards, and authorizes electronic transfers of money within the government. In no way does this provision grant the government access to individual bank accounts.
Lie "Page 65: Taxpayers will subsidize all union retiree and community organizer health plans (read: SEIU, UAW and ACORN)"
TRUTH: Here's what page 65 says: "Not later than 90 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the Secretary of Health and Human Services shall establish a temporary reinsurance program to provide reimbursement to assist participating employment-based plans with the cost of providing health benefits to retirees and to eligible spouses, surviving spouses and dependents of such retirees." No mention is made of unions or community organizations.
Lie "Page 72: All private healthcare plans must conform to government rules to participate in a Healthcare Exchange."
TRUTH: That's true! Plans have to have a minimum standard of benefits; that can offer other plans as well. But that's fair, isn't it? Private insurers can continue to operate outside the exchange if they wish - should the government establish no standards for the exchange? In that case, how could reform end insurance industry abuses and help to control costs?
Lie "Page 84: All private healthcare plans must participate in the Healthcare Exchange (i.e., total government control of private plans)"
TRUTH: This section says is that if private health care plans want to operate in the Exchange, they must provide a basic benefit package.
Lie "Page 91: Government mandates linguistic infrastructure for services; translation: illegal aliens"
TRUTH: Some American citizens are more comfortable speaking a language other than English, especially in a sensitive situation like a consultation with their doctor. This provision in no way opens the door for coverage of undocumented workers.
Lie "Page 95: The Government will pay ACORN and Americorps to sign up individuals for Government-run Health Care plan."
TRUTH: Page 95 makes no mention of ACORN and Americorps; all it says is that the Commissioner can conduct outreach to vulnerable populations, making them aware of their options.
Lie "Page 102: Those eligible for Medicaid will be automatically enrolled: you have no choice in the matter."
TRUTH: People who are eligible for Medicaid will not have to face the burdens of paperwork and other bureaucratic struggles. Far from depriving people of choice, this measure will ensure coverage.
Lie "Page 124: No company can sue the government for price-fixing. No 'judicial review' is permitted against the government monopoly. Put simply, private insurers will be crushed."
TRUTH: This section describes rate-setting under the public health insurance plan option, which will compete with private insurers, who can set their own rates. Because of inherent advantages like their established administrative and provider frameworks, private insurance companies will not be "crushed" by government competition.
Lie "Page 127: The AMA sold doctors out: the government will set wages."
TRUTH: The government will negotiate rates with providers under the public health insurance plan option. However, private insurers will continue to pay their own rates.
Lie "Page 145: An employer MUST auto-enroll employees into the government-run public plan. No alternatives."
TRUTH: This is simply not true. Employers with more than 20 employees aren't even eligible to participate in the exchange, let alone the public plan, until several years after the exchange launches in 2013. Moreover, no employer will be forced to participate in the public plan.
Lie "Page 146: Employers MUST pay healthcare bills for part-time employees AND their families."
TRUTH: Employers are required to pay some benefits for part-time employees on a basis proportional to what they pay for full-time employees. No language on this page or the next stipulates coverage for the families of part-time employees.
Lie "Page 149: Any employer with a payroll of $400K or more, who does not offer the public option, pays an 8% tax on payroll"
TRUTH: The payroll penalty applies to employers with payroll over $500,000 who does not provide insurance to their employees. The percentage for employers with payroll from $500,000 - $750,000 is 6%. Employers do not have to offer the public option to avoid this penalty, they can offer private insurance if they wish.
Lie "Page 150: Any employer with a payroll of $250K-400K or more, who does not offer the public option, pays a 2 to 6% tax on payroll"
TRUTH: This is false, see above.
Lie "Page 167: Any individual who doesn't' have acceptable healthcare (according to the government) will be taxed 2.5% of income."
TRUTH: Pages 167-173 detail what "acceptable health care" means (basically, insurance coverage) and also allow for many different kinds of exceptions to this rule.
Lie "Page 170: Any NON-RESIDENT alien is exempt from individual taxes (Americans will pay for them)."
TRUTH: Non-resident aliens do not have to pay the penalty for not having health insurance, nor will they receive federal assistance, because they are not required to purchase health insurance. They are not exempted from individual taxes generally.
Lie "Page 195: Officers and employees of Government Healthcare Bureaucracy will have access to ALL American financial and personal records."
TRUTH: This is a gross overstatement. For the purposes of determining affordability credits for Americans who need financial assistance in purchasing health insurance, employees of the Health Choices Administration will have access to tax information that the federal government already keeps. As is clearly stated on page 196, "Return information... may be used by officers and employees of the Health Choices Administration or such State-based health insurance exchange, as the case may be, only for the purposes of, and to the extent necessary in, establishing and verifying the appropriate amount of any affordability credit described in subtitle C of title II of the America's Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 and providing for the repayment of any such credit which was in excess of such appropriate amount.''
Lie "Page 203: "The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax." Yes, it really says that."
TRUTH: This quote is taken out of context, and is in fact referring to a calculation used in the bill. Full context of quote: "'(4) NOT TREATED AS TAX IMPOSED BY THIS CHAPTER FOR CERTAIN PURPOSES.-The tax imposed under this section shall not be treated as tax imposed by this chapter for purposes of determining the amount of any credit under this chapter or for purposes of section 55.''
Lie "Page 239: Bill will reduce physician services for Medicaid. Seniors and the poor most affected."
TRUTH: This section has nothing whatsoever to do with reducing services. It makes much needed changes to the way in which physician reimbursement is recalculated every year. The bill will, in fact, create much more opportunity for seniors and the poor to receive necessary care.
Lie "Page 241: Doctors: no matter what specialty you have, you'll all be paid the same (thanks, AMA!)"
TRUTH: Page 241 does not say this. Nowhere does it say this. It does say that physicians will be grouped into certain categories regardless of specialty. These categories merely determine if the physician is engaged in primarily therapeutic or preventative care.
Lie "Page 253: Government sets value of doctors' time, their professional judgment, etc."
TRUTH: There is no good response to this assertion as it appears to have been made up completely. The section deals with 'misvalued codes' meaning that the government is potentially not paying an acceptable rate for a specific service. This will allow the government to, for example, pay more for services that require more payment, such as high-overhead procedures. The author of these criticisms separately attacks the bill for paying the same rate to all doctors, then attacks again for paying different rates.
Lie "Page 265: Government mandates and controls productivity for private healthcare industries."
TRUTH: This section amends the Social Security Act to include productivity measures. There is no mandate or control of anything. This merely updates the way in which doctors and hospitals are paid through Medicare.
Lie "Page 268: Government regulates rental and purchase of power-driven wheelchairs."
TRUTH: This is simply not true. This slightly amends existing guidelines for payments for medical equipment, in this case power-driven wheelchairs. This section introduces no 'regulations' that are not in the Social Security Act.
Lie "Page 272: Cancer patients: welcome to the wonderful world of rationing!"
TRUTH: Overusage of the hot-button word "rationing" is a way to deflect attention away from the actual language of the bill and incite unjustified fear. This section only compares costs incurred by cancer hospitals to costs incurred by similar hospitals, and adjusts payments to reduce the possibility of fraud and abuse.
Lie "Page 280: Hospitals will be penalized for what the government deems preventable re-admissions."
TRUTH: This is almost correct. The section is one of the first efforts at targeting excessive readmissions. Excessive readmissions are physically and emotionally damaging to patients, while simultaneously putting them, and the health care system, in far more financial risk than is necessary. The American Hospital Association recommended reduced payments for avoidable readmission in testimony to Congress.
Lie "Page 298: Doctors: if you treat a patient during an initial admission that results in a readmission, you will be penalized by the government."
TRUTH: This is patently false. The section is about possible methods that the Secretary of Health and Human services might consider in order to address the growing problem of patient readmission. This section does not, in any way, create a penalty, nor does it even mandate policy. It merely provides examples of recourses that might be considered.
Lie "Page 317: Doctors: you are now prohibited from owning and investing in healthcare companies!"
TRUTH: This provision only limits Doctor's investments in health care facilities that they refer patients to. The effort to limit self-referral has been ongoing for many years as an effort to reduce fraud and abuse. This is, essentially, the medical community equivalent of insider trading. Limiting this incentive works to put the patient's health above all other considerations. Doctors remain free to engage in investment opportunities in areas that don't create a significant conflict of interest.
Lie "Page 318: Prohibition on hospital expansion. Hospitals cannot expand without government approval."
TRUTH: This section regulates physicians' investment in hospitals to make sure that physicians are not unfairly benefiting from their power to refer patients to hospitals they have a stake in. The section does not prohibit hospital expansion.
Lie "Page 321: Hospital expansion hinges on 'community' input: in other words, yet another payoff for ACORN."
TRUTH: In the ongoing effort to demonize community-based groups such as ACORN, every instance of the word "community" has become associated with that group's efforts. In reality, this provision allows for anyone to provide input. This includes homeowners, religious leaders, neighborhood groups, and others. There are no payoffs. There is no money exchanged in any way.
Lie "Page 335: Government mandates establishment of outcome-based measures: i.e., rationing."
TRUTH: This provision is included in order to allow the government to base payments on practices that work. Nowhere does it say health care will be rationed. The attempt to isolate what works and what does not work in Medicare Advantage plans only benefits the health care system in general.
Lie "Page 341: Government has authority to disqualify Medicare Advantage Plans, HMOs, etc."
TRUTH: The government can disqualify some Medicare Advantage Plans from receiving some additional payments, but only if those plans are not meeting necessary requirements.
Lie "Page 354: Government will restrict enrollment of SPECIAL NEEDS individuals."
TRUTH: This section only deals with how to handle special needs individuals who need to enroll outside of the open enrollment period. Almost every type of plan operates with open enrollment periods. This section does not create more restrictions.
Lie "Page 379: More bureaucracy: Telehealth Advisory Committee (healthcare by phone)."
TRUTH: This section merely expands existing Telehealth programs, which supplement but do not replace other health coverage, and provide a vital resource to Americans in rural and remote areas.
Lie "Page 425-430: More bureaucracy: Advance Care Planning Consult: Senior Citizens, assisted suicide, euthanasia?; Government will instruct and consult regarding living wills, durable powers of attorney, etc. Mandatory. Appears to lock in estate taxes ahead of time; Government provides approved list of end-of-life resources, guiding you in death; Government mandates program that orders end-of-life treatment; government dictates how your life ends; Advance Care Planning Consult will be used to dictate treatment as patient's health deteriorates. This can include an ORDER for end-of-life plans. An ORDER from the GOVERNMENT; Government will decide what level of treatments you may have at end-of-life."
TRUTH: All of these hysterical claims have been debunked elsewhere. HR3200 provides for the reimbursement of a voluntary session of end-of-life counseling with your physician once every five years. This in no way means the government will make decisions for patients or encourage doctor-assisted suicide. Counseling simply makes patients and their families aware of their options.
Lie "Page 469: Community-based Home Medical Services: more payoffs for ACORN."
TRUTH: ACORN is not a Community-Based Medical Home.
Lie "Page 472: Payments to Community-based organizations: more payoffs for ACORN."
TRUTH: This is clearly still referring to community health groups, not ACORN.
Lie "Page 489: Government will cover marriage and family therapy. Government intervenes in your marriage."
TRUTH: Covering marriage and family therapy, as many private insurance plans do, does not mean that the government "intervenes in your marriage." The types of individuals who are recognized as therapists are clearly defined on page 491; in brief, professionals only, not bureaucrats.
Lie "Page 494: Government will cover mental health services: defining, creating and rationing those services."
TRUTH: This section expands government coverage for mental health services under various government programs, and ensures that all mental health services will be offered by qualified professionals.

The right wing is nuts mainly for two reasons.
1. They assume they have the moral high ground somehow, I guess because they don't want abortions, even though their economic strategy kills the middle class and any hope of strengthening historically weak communities.
2. Their KKK fundy policies line right up with the mullahs in Iran.

But I mean, I am a Christian and couldn't even consider becoming a right winger. I think the real moral majority (of Democrats) needs to take back the issue of abortion from the Elephants. They wouldn't have any moral standing left. Damn Flandereses.

I hope you didn't just compare Republicans to the KKK. Hopefully that is a acronym that has completely went over my head.  Republicans were the ones that had freed the slaves in the first place by instituting the Emancipation Proclamation.  Democrats however, did not want all these newly-freed slaves to vote in subsequencial elections after the Civil War so what do they do? They start dressing in pretty white sheets to scare the black man out of voting Republican.

http://www.debatepolitics.com/history/35047-strange-bedfellows-american-nazi-party-nation-islam.html

Strange Bedfellows
Some American Black Muslims make common cause with domestic neo-Nazis and foreign Muslim extremists

In 1961, Elijah Muhammad, founder of the black supremacist Nation of Islam, met with Ku Klux Klan leaders at the Magnolia Hall in Atlanta. Although they had different ideas about the skin color of the master race, they shared the belief that blacks and whites should stay separate. The following year, Muhammad invited American Nazi Party chief George Lincoln Rockwell to address a Nation convention in Chicago, even though Rockwell had often called blacks "the lowest scum of humanity." Flanked by a dozen storm troopers in swastika armbands, Rockwell told an audience of 5,000 Nation devotees that he was "proud to stand here before black men. " Elijah Muhammad is the Adolf Hitler of the black man."

Sporadic contacts between Black Muslims and white supremacists continued after Louis Farrakhan set up his own branch of the Nation of Islam in 1975. Klan leader Tom Metzger was so impressed with Farrakhan's anti-Semitic bombast that he donated $100 to the Nation after a Farrakhan rally in Los Angeles in September 1985. A month later, Metzger and 200 other white supremacists from the United States and Canada gathered on a farm about 50 miles west of Detroit, where they pledged their support for the Nation of Islam. "The enemy of my enemy is my friend," explained Art Jones, a neo-Nazi militant from Chicago. "I salute Louis Farrakhan and anyone else who stands up against the Jews."

The Nation's contacts with non-black extremists has not been limited to domestic neo-Nazis and Klansmen. During his international travels, Farrakhan has been officially welcomed in a number of countries, including several repressive Arab states. The Final Call, Farrakhan's newspaper, describes one such globetrotting expedition in 1986, when he visited Libya for discussions with Col. Muammar Ghaddafi, who had given Farrakhan a $5 million interest-free loan the previous year. After Libya, Farrakhan ventured to Jeddah, where he conferred with top Saudi Arabian officials before paying a courtesy call to Idi Amin, the exiled Ugandan despot. Farrakhan was also warmly received by General Zia-ul-Huq, the military dictator of Pakistan, whose abysmal human rights record coincided with efforts to impose a harsh Islamic fundamentalist regime in his country.

In response to 100% Republican Accountability for Katrina Response: Gee, if we're going to play this blame game.  Where were the Local and State governments in all of this? Sitting on their asses waiting for Bush to come in with 2 empty pail buckets to move out the floodwaters by hand?

Rewind my friend, to two days before landfall.  A Category 5 Hurricane was heading straight for New Orleans. What did the local and state governments do to prepare for this? Practically nothing. Did the Governor effectivily order the National Guard to provide aid in the evactuations of New Orleans and the rest of Southern Coast?.  No.

It is not the federal government;s responsibility to re-act to national disaster. FEMA is only responsible for providing some assistance local and state governments, but is not responsible for the overall recovery. Tell me friend,  who was the mayor of New Orleans at the time? Who was the Governor of Louisanna at the time?

Fema was not as punctual as they should have been, no. However claiming that they're 100% to blame is like saying Bill Clinton is soley responsible for the Waco Shootings.

why don't we fast forward to the Civil Rights era then?  1964: The Civil Rights Act.  When it was time to vote on the bill 80% of Republican supported the bill compared to the  69% of Democrats the favored it. Keep in mind that the Democrats were also the majority party at the time. The final approval came after a 50 year battle to approve civil rights, during this time frame there had been 26 bills introduced since 1933.  Republicans voted in favor of civil rights 96% of the time while Democrats opposed these bills 80% of the time

http://archive.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2002/12/13/194350.shtml

Not everything thing Democrats have done have been an injustice to the Black Man in the past however. They did institute affirmative action.  What better way to make everyone equal then to introduce a system that makes a social distinction based on race.  The Democrats also will always be known for the party that elected a black man as a president. What's a better way to permanently erase 200 years of racial oppression.  However, lest we forget. Which party elected the first black man to Senate? Ask Hiram Revels.  Which party nominated the first black House Member. Ask Joseph Rainey. Which party appointed the only two black Secretaries of State? Ask Collin Powell and Condeleeza Rice.

And what about the heart and soul of the civil rights movement? Well what do you know, Martin Luther King Jr. was not a Democrat, he was a Republican

Nice revisionist history. While it is true that the Reps had a slightly higher % who voted for Civil Rights in the mid sixties, the offending Dems you speak of have since become the very racist Republicans we speak of. Strom Thurmond and his ilk converted to Reaganist Republican. The Reps were glad to have them as that is what gave them their majorities in the 80s 90s and 00s... So please, don't try such silly ruses on people who both have a REAL understanding of history and were alive back then...

That's nice, but the fact of the matter is that most people who were pro-segregation during the civil rights movement were white, Christian conservatives. After Harry Truman (D) desegregated the military and began calling for desegregation those same people began to defect from the party. This led to Strom Thurmond's (R) bid for president. To this day the people most likely to be against anything that might be perceived as helping blacks are white, Christian conservatives and most of them are in the Republican party.

That's the way it is. Get over it.

Hurricanes will happen, but in the worlds richest nation it shouldn't take five days to respond with water and other supplies. That is 100% the failure of the Bush administration. They knew damn well how bad this was going to be before it made landfall and still couldn't get it right.

The frequency and destructiveness of hurricanes and other weather phenomena is tied to global warming and almost to a man Republicans prefer to let businesses do whatever they feel is necessary to make money regardless of the consequences to those of us who don't get to share in the profits.

There is no such thing as god. Quit giving him credit for all of mans successes and failures and show a little accountability.

Fair enough. She was wrong to blame it solely on Bush when it's really the Republican environmental policy as a whole which Bush subscribed to. However it it inaccurate to pin it on him because this ball was set in motion a long time ago.

Can you follow a simple logical course of events? Once more: Racist Democrats of the 1950s and 1960s switched allegiance to the Republican Party after voting for George Wallace in 1968 and 1972. They were lovingly courted by your false god Ronnie Reagan.

Straw man. No one said he caused Katrina. We have however said he bungled the management of that crisis either because he's incompetent or he really doesn't care about black people.

The people who say he caused 9/11 are nuts.

And you are missing the main point of the argument.  The Republicans have done way more to help miniorities in the past than the Democrats.  There are plenty of Democratic bigots left, the only reason the Republicans get a bad rep is from Trent Lott and Kayne West.

There are plenty of Democratic bigots left. Trouble is they are vastly outnumbered by bigots who have found a home in the Republican Party that has replaced outright bigotry as a platform with all the proper code words. Crime, Affirmative Action ( against it), and a host of other issues are twisted by the Reps to garner the rqacist vote, Hell, I know this from personal experience. Every bigot I know is a Republican. They all look around a room to make sure the complexion is right for a racist joke...

You can convince yourself, but you not convincing anyone else...Oh, and try to follow: Just because I said nearly all racists are Republican doesn NOT mean I say ALL Republicans are racist. They just go to bed with them.

Great blog? You seriously think this was a great blog? This added up to about six paragraphs of subjective opinion. I didn't read one fact, quote, source, nothing. It was nothing but a 'nya nya republicans suck' piece of liberal trash. I suppose I should be addressing the author, but I saw your smiling face front and center, agreeing and nodding your head. This is the type of one sided bull shit that has no reasoning, nothing productive to contribute to an honest debate and promotes hostility between two trains of thought that need to come together.

Congrats Old Man. Divide and conquer. When you're paying 70% of your income to the government, you can pull out your old blogs and relive your liberal glory years.

I paid 53% of my income to the government the last year I checked (federal, state, and local)...You do a real turn-the -argument-on-its-head deal with claiming you want debate. Bullshit. That's what started my rant. The right doesn't want an honest debate. The nutjobs want to scream and howl and lie and spread fear and hatred. Do you seriously consider the talk about "death panels", "euthanasia", "Nazi parallels to be honest debate? If so I will refer you to a physician who can give you the lil pills you need to keep the voices in your head from telling the aliens to land...

Mike, I'm a bit overwhelmed with thirty or forty people all rendering opinions. I've never gotten this response on a blog that delivers facts... I'm probably more conservative than you realize, as YOUR assumptions show. What pisses me off is the inability to discuss and debate. It's always about false labels...In this instance though I really have an honest ax to grind. "Wingnuts" are not intellectually honest or open to any form of debate. They want to be preached to and parrot what they have heard. Ask them about not finding WMD in Iraq and they'll say that Sadaam moved them. Refute that they moved them to Iran or Syria and they'll come up ever more arcane "possibilities". They deny the most basic of facts and push the most inane lies as absolute and undeniable truth. Now every Republican is not a wingnut, but nearly all wingnuts are Republican ( with Libertarians, militiamen, secessionists, and other wack job ideologies absorbing the rest.)

I tried to explain that I was against th War in Iraq to some wingnuts the day the war started. They didn't care to listen to my reasons ( all of which proved truer than I dared imagine). Instead I was a LIIIIIIberal" and not a real Amurikan and all the bull. One even said I must support al Qaeda! When I asked what al Qaeda had to do with Iraq he looked at me like I was an idiot. Mikey, I want a Republican Party that tells these morons who stand in front of McCain at a rally and says Obama is a Muslim terrorist to go to go start their own political party. Instead the Republicans egg these fools on, and even selects one of the very worst as a candidate for VP. The Reps have forsaken any political discourse for hogcalling and cowchip tossing. GIVE ME BACK A REPUBLICAN PARTY I CAN VOTE FOR, and not a pack of racist, secessionist, anti-intellectual, anti-science dullards who stockpile ammo, and wait for the Apocalypse!

In Oct 2008 I spent three days researching a timeline to explain why our meltdown happened and wrote out a really good and informative blog. It was NON-PARTISAN. I don't know which side you wanna support but either way the "proof" is essentially inconsequential. Lincoln was a Republican (that I pick as our finest president) and can be falsely blamed for starting a war that killed a million people. Roosevelt (a Democrat) can be cited as "starting WWII which took 400,000 US lives. And education isn't an indicator. Democrats get more highschools dropout votes than Republicans but also get a higher percentage of those with advanced degrees as well...

A recent study was done to see how "liberals" and "conservatives" dealt with a traffic detour/traffic jam. The conservatives generally just went the same old way, got snarled in traffic, and bitched about the roads and traffic. Liberals found new ways to travel around the mess. Sometimes it took them just as long as it did the conservatives, but they bitched a whole lot less...I will try to find that study 9 done by a non-political group)

Honestly, I think that was probably taken out of context.  When he spoke of our chances, he is seeing, as I do, how far we are from what we all expected we would be from birth, free people.  If we continue the direction we are going as a country, right or left, there's no getting around it, we will be weaker as a nation and what happens when you are weak and enslaved?  Some bully will want to push you around until you decide you've had enough.  This is where America is with the rest of the world, this is where America is within itself, and now, it's reaching into our very families so that soon, we'll just be automatons.

I might not be able to do much more in my life as I have lived way more than half of it now, but I do have children and grandchildren and if I don't do something now to at least try to get back to being a free country, I am just so afraid of what their quality of life will be - not whether they have money, just their lives themselves.

You are accurate.  Since I was molested as a child, I feel I can say this.
When it happened, I had no clue, how could I?  I was a child.  However, my parents took it and worked through it with me, it wasn't dwelt upon as to oh, you poor thing, and oh, her life is ruined....cause guess what?  My life wasn't ruined!  It was something that happened, he was an old man, probably not in his right mind any more, but I'm going to fault him for that?

So how come for so long I was supposed to feel like a victim?  I've never had therapy for it,  but guess what?  I feel like a victor!  I couldn't help that someone imposed themselves on me, I wasn't strong enough and I had my parents for that.  I am by no means saying that molestation should not be punished, it should and harshly, but unless judged on the basis of the actual event and punishment meted out accordingly, I would tend to think we wouldn't have as much of it going on if it wasn't impressed upon society that we are victims, so quit making me feel like one and I'll move past the fact that I was violated.

As someone who fiercely defends the progressive, secular position I gotta say it's disappointing to hear you say you would delete their comments. I've seen them censor the comments on their blogs and have had a few of mine censored as well, and to me it's the intellectually dishonest and cowardly thing to do. Why stoop to their level? When they accuse us of being un-American and being against the principles this country was founded on only to turn around and block the free speech of someone else they reveal what hypocrites they are. If you censor them you validate their accusations.

We'll never convince the people who actually think of Sarah Palin as a leader, but I think the true value is in the perception of the casual observer and those who are uncommitted. We look like the honest, sensible, patriotic ones when we allow those on the right to scream and yell and rant about assorted conspiracy theories without suppression.
