Current mood:  excited
Category: Parties and Nightlife
The tryptophan is wearing off from all the turkey, we vigorously avoided any retail establishments on Stoopid Friday, and we can now turn our attention to the hhhot CD release party at Cafe du Nord for the upcoming After The Fog album (see previous entry for our own glowing yet humble review).

Calling Cafe du Nord a cool San Francisco music club is like calling Pam Anderson "curvy" (or Larry Craig "pervy"). It's an exercise in understatement. Any unsigned indie band would give body parts to play du Nord, and a Friday night here is gold. Highlights include the major-league sound system, a 40-foot hand-carved mahogany bar, deep red victorian styling, its history as a speakeasy during the Prohibition, and the fact that you have to walk down 30 feet below street level to get in (it's subterranean, baby).

Rounding out an incredible evening will be performances by Smithpoint and We Are Invisible, two crackity local bands on their own vertical trajectories. In short, a stellar production, compliments of our rockin' new promoter/booking agent Liliana at Starstruck. First 25 peeps through the door will receive award show-worthy goodie bags with perks from Amoeba, Rhapsody, Jones Soda, Recliner and more. In the future, people who look up "historical not-to-be-missed local indie music show" in the dictionary will see photos from this gig.

See you there - basket of kittens,
