Material Girl @ Club Smooch, Brighton
The
concept for this particluar fashion Show came from the music.
Picture the scene: The Caroline of Brunswick on a Tuesday afternnoon, not many punters, a kiddie in the corner with his laptop and the always cheery faced Pete behind the bar. I had come to a bit of a stick as to what this show was about until Arwen and myself occupied a table, a pitcher of coffee and began brainstorming.
I had the music: Material Girl, a handful of half made goodies, and an event.
My modest collection was centered around archetypes of pin-up and was very much a day wearable collection of corsets. I really enjoyed making these corsets because I was reaching right out of my comfort zone. Sometimes I don't feel there is enough time to be innovative in my field, since I spend almost 8 hours a day sewing my commissioned work, it can sometimes be tiring, and costly to halt that process and actually be truely creative and artistic.
I feel putting on fashion shows, no matter how modest, is always good to provide the opportunity and motivation to stretch a bit.
So, enjoy the fruits of my labour.
