Hey there! I just recently got the BFD drum program for doing drum tracks. I have had some success with it, and am fairly happy with the sounds. Let me know what you think. Are you having any problems?

Hi Dan

Nice to hear from you! I am still using Cubase, and yes BFD is vst compatible. I have not had huge success with this program yet as the cymbal samples are to short, and stop dead after about 1 second. That sounds fake to me. I am not sure if others like their cymbals like that....I don't. So I am not feeling to shiggady doo about that. So far all I have used the program for as a result is to lay down a basic beat for traking to. It is still better than an irratating BEEP beep beep beep BEEP beep bee......(assuming it's 4/4.) I'm not too too upset though as I really do love recording real drums, and am of the notion that you can't replace the human spirit. (of course a Vulcan on the drums might be out of this world.....Live long and prosper dude) I am in a tad bit of a geezed mood, and so am typing nonsense. I hope you are happy, and make sure you say hi to the rest of the family!!!

Your pal

Bruce

Well hello

I just picked up protools 7.3 Le. Now I won't turn back.  I tossed up upgrading cubase but i've heard so much for good things about protools.  BFD lite came with the program.   But i got  to get a new disc cause the one i got was faulty.   but i should be able to find out what it's like in the new week.  they are sending me a new one.  You are right though i don't think they can make it sound like a real kit with human touch.  they can come close but... you know tho, if your option is that program or using a bad kit... it's better. 98% of people wouldn't notice ...you know lol.  I'll have to heard this Bfd lite program to get an idea what it can do.  I hear it's the best tho.

Anyway i better go.  I'll say hi to the fam.  We're in you're neck of the woods this weekend sort of. in and around Calgary.  Hope all is well.  Take care.

Dan

Hi Bruce, I haven't tried that program. Do you use a midi keyboard to hammer in your drums? I am always struggling with getting drums down quick and easy.

Have you tried Groove Agent? It's quite nice for laying down ideas.

Hey Robert

I don't use a midi keyboard as I don't have one yet. I have just been mapping the parts out with the mouse. Still a fun way to do it if you are patient. I have heard good things about groove agent but have not had the opportunity to  try it yet. Do you have it?

Yes, I have version 1, but the grooves are a bit unorthodox and unusable for me. The newer versions of the program are apparently much better, but I haven't tried them.

You should check out ezDrummer - pretty cool!
