Wouldn't it be interesting to see how Fiery Furnaces' fans would decribe the new Fiery Furnaces' album--without having heard it?

Here are a couple of sample descriptions--not that they are accurate. They're not!

"Like all the band's other albums, I'm Going Away sounds different than all the band's other albums. Here, Eleanor plays the strong and sensitive leading lady, wearing CK on her sleeve. "CK" standing for Carole King of course. An evil eye's around her neck and that come-hither aspect is a figment of your imagination. Matt's six-string fizz-fuzz gets bandied about the locale (occasionally delicate six-string fizz-fuzz)--when the time is right. And it often is. (But what the? matter of fact does the piano get plucked at? Matt makes sure the Reggie Dwight + Raymond O'Sullivan duties 'pon d'ivories get handled. Personally. (And sometimes he sings into that vocal mic.)) Bob and Jason positively incarnate a couple of hip cats of studio 'n stage, hopped up on hep, with soul to spare and commitment to conjure."

Or one might follow the lead of an ad for Batdorf & Rodney Asylum Records took out in Billboard (Nov 18, 1972). "
This is John Batdorf [ie, Matt Friedberger]. This is Mark Rodney [ie, Eleanor Friedberger]. And this is their new Album [ie, I'm Gong Away].
Batdorf & Rodney [ie, Friedberger & Friedberger] write and play music that's filled with things that remind you of smiles and happy moments. / It's music that makes you feel good when you listen to it. Music that's filled with well-blended harmonies and tight musicianship that's really very nice to hear. / And that's what music is all about anyway, isn't it? Batdorf and Rodney [ie, the Fiery Furnaces]. On Asylum records and Tapes [ie, Thrill Jockey Records and CD's]."

BUT WE'RE SURE YOU CAN DO BETTER! Send your 'deaf descriptions' to:
