Its been a Hectic summer! 10 festivals, other gigs, workshops and all the stuff (life admin) in between has sort of meant I've become rather solipsistic so big apologies to anyone that has found me a bit aloof of late and difficult to get hold of.

One great thing that happened to me over the summer was meeting the fantastic Smerrin's Anti-social club... playing as they do a seamless mix of skankin dub/reggae riddims but with intricately composed song structures that hint at their classical training with an eclectism to have everysingle scene-ist in the room take stock and open their mind, they utterly rocked my world. I played with them at a night in Brum called Jibbering which is run by Dan Raffety that organises what is probably my favourite festival of the summer, Shambala. If you haven't checked out shambala... DO! 5,000 or so people dancing to some of the best Reggae, Dub, Electronica, World music, Dub step, Hip-Hop (all the greats right?).

When Smerrins came on I realised in the fibre of my culturally aware self that it ties up so many loose ends. The hypnotic throbbing bass grooves of reggae married with a musical construction that lets your mind fly as your emotions are tickled on the way up! yeah!

well... the point of all this, other than to share the vibes is that I am playing with Smerrins a few times in the next few months, the first at Cargo in London on the 17th of October which WILL sell out so get tickets early. Also, for non-londoners, the 22nd we're in Bristol at the Fiddlers and the 29th were in Southampton at the Brook. So, no excuses, er.. I suppose unless you dont live in either London, Bristol or Southampton.

It was when i was watching Smerins at 2007 Ashton Court festival in bristol, that my i got asked out by my boyfriend of which we lasted 2 and half years:) Gotta say, Smerins are definately something special!

I'm actually coming to see you in Cardiff with Young Blood Brass Band and cant wait.

If youre into bristol sounds and by the sound of it you are, have a listen to my mates the Hit Ups if you can.
they play super funky hiphop with their own saxaphonist i'd be very grateful on their behalf if you had a listen:)
