Hello! good autumn to you, I always feel there is something emotional about this month... perhaps taking that word, emotion, and looking at its meaning we can see why... emotion, or 'in motion' indicates movement. isn't autumn a season of movement? it is a portal between extreme opposites, winter and summer, and it is a time when leaves fall (with motion) in piles on the streets, before being kicked back up into the air by excited children. it is also a point of no return, a realisation that there will be hard times ahead. Autumn is like standing on the edge of a warzone, the conflict with winter is inevitable. but the outward movement of autumn also seems to produce a kind of stasis... it is a time to batten down the hatches and introvert somewhat. The internal conflicts of our mind seem closer, more observable... All the outgoing of summer had almost made us forget that when it comes down to it, all we have is this fragile little consciousness, a light yearning to shine upon itself.

As these days move forward, just as we can see our breath more in the cold air, we seem to be able to see our thoughts more intensely. Can we be still with these thoughts? Even though our culture likes to bombard us with things to take our mind of these baron months (Christmas, New year, valentines), it seems that it is within these moments of mental emptiness in which the greatest creativity comes into being.

This is why writing is so important in these months! talking of which, I've been working on a few new tunes, still not recorded yet but I will be sure to post them up there when I do.

Gigs: well as you can see, got a few gigs coming up, A couple with Smerrins in Bristol and Southampton the next two weekends and then on the 12th and 20th I'll be back in Bristol at Timbuk2 and K2 respectively. the day after that I will be in lovely Loughborough. So check it out people! I'm gonna playing quite alot of new material.
