This past week I had the pleasure of meeting Lt. General Hal Moore at his home in Auburn, Alabama. When he was a Lt Col he commanded the 1 Battalion of the 7th CAV at LZ XRAY, Ia Drang Valley, Vietnam 1965. This battle is the subject of the movie starring Mel Gibson, "We Were Once Soldiers". Mel played Hal Moore in the movie.

We (Wide Awake Films) are currently shooting 3 pilots for Kurtis Productions and the National Geographic Channel. The 3 pilots are The Battle of the Wilderness (Civil War), Ia Drang (Vietnam), and Saipan (WWII).

Just thought Id share some of these images with you. If it wasnt for this mans leadership many more would have died in this battle. Two weeks ago we interviewed many of the soldiers and they all spoke very highly of Hal Moore. They all felt they owed there lives to his skill as a military commander.
