"THE Jericho s latest Melting Pot night proved an absolute treat for gig-goers with four very professional - if strangely named - bands.
First up was Another Lost Leader - an enjoyably mellow folk three-piece, artfull combining lead and rhythm guitar.
Then as if to save us from crying ourselves to death out of romantic chagrin, came Not My Day, a great band with good songs and very energetic renditions.
The Shakes started off sounding too much like mainstrea m contemporary pop, though the second half was more creative and engaging ‹ with keyboards and harmonica employed to sparkling effect. Their ska-influenced songs were especially entertaining.
By the time The Anydays came on stage I, for one, was approaching unconsciousness, due to a number of reasons, and at first wasn t sure whether they were playing covers or their own material.
It is, of course, all their own work, but that element of doubt only proves how efficient thei revivalism of early sixties rock really is.
They were also the only band that made people dance ‹ and made every single person cheerful.
And, at the end of the day, what more do you want?"
