We started out in Austin with the first show being a sxsw day party sponsored by Team Grizzly Records. Thanks to Brian Bo and Clock Hands Strangle for getting me and annabella on the bill.
Many things came together for that show. I played a few songs solo and then was lucky enough to play a few of my songs with Paula Jean Brown and annabella (with Andy Brock Broch Brach Bracht who has joined them for tour). The new song Fable sounded great having 2 extra singers, bass, the important kick drum part and the fender Rhodes churchy chords. PJB is an amazing bass player and we have plans to unite on future projects / performances. Yay! I met a guy from another band that is named Christopher Rae. He and I are definitly related, b/c he had similar insights of our heritage. I also bumped in to an old friend annie lin that has been pushing my music for films for a couple of years. someday....
Houston was the next show. It was on Saturday. It was at my friend Smitty’s house. We had a full bill and a big crowd and a keg to drain. Smitty had the place decorated in brilliant lights, including 2 large antique lamps which were the stage lights. We each had a lite brite with our name/band name on it. He said we could have ours for tour, but Terri’s bag of shoes made it impossible to fit into the Element. I saw lots of old friends and made some new ones. I didn’t sell any cds, but I gave a lot away due to the fact that I left the box of them on the ground by the entrance in a fashion that must have been saying "take one". Glenna Bell, Raj Pickens, Jimmy Pitzitola, annabella and Clock Hands Strangle also played. The crowd was receptive to the several different styles of music that passed through the night. There was even a bagpiper that played in the house and yard throughout the night. Someone might have gotten fresh with himself in the bathroom. He was wearing a red shirt. Every person in a red shirt was suspect. Sorry Christian, Adam, Casey. When the cops came due to noise violation, Smitty told ’em "no problem, we’ll shut down by 11". the cop said "it’s after midnight, but ok" and they left.
definitly stayed up way past my bedtime that night. also, i forgot to tell my other sister about the show. i have definitly let myself get to busy with too many things. i can’t be forgetting important details like that!
my uncle passed away just as i left texas. i had that feeling. we knew it would be soon, but it still came fast. i am going to sing a song for him tonight and go spend time with my aunt when i return. my life has become filled with too many things. ah, confused...
did i mention that clock hands strangle stayed at the house for 4 nights? we had a blast. but 5 21 year old guys, 3 cats and 2 girls is a lot for any 4 walls. haha. if you see chrissy, give her a hug for all of these "adventures" i put her through lately.
