8 years ago today, my friend & mentor suzanne fauser, passed away. there's probably chapters worth of things to write about suzanne and our friendship, the things she taught me, & the great people she brought into my life... she is deeply missed, and we think about her every day, especially when my daughter, suzanna, does something that reminds me of her. we named suzanna in honor of her. she was born 9 months & 5 days after suzanne passed away...

i met suzanne in 1988 at the 1st tattoo convention i ever went to, in new orleans. we just connected and became fast friends. i spent the next 13 years making my way out to michigan to work with her at her shop Creative Tattoo, in ann arbor.

to this day, i still enjoy reading all the old letters & looking at all the artwork she gave me. she was an incredible woman, inspirational to all that were fortunate enough to know her... i'd like to thank her for helping me become the person i am today...

kat snapped this photo of me & chloe the day after suzanne's funeral, at her lake house. just an example of the magic that surrounded suzanne...

We take with us a part of every person who comes into our life. sometimes they take a piece of us in return, it is in this sharing of energy that we connect with everyone across the universe. the two of you not only shared but deeply connected, so yes, the person you are today is very much the part of you that carries her in your heart always. love and blessings for you and your family, and the many lives you touch on a daily basis.

She was a great person, and tattooed some of my friends and was tattooed by one of them as well. She has been a great influence on so many people and is greatly missed. It is really cool that you were able to enjoy her company, you are a great artist and huge influence on many.
Especially those of us who knew how great you were before any tattoo tv shows were around! We knew you da man!

You know, sometimes we find those people who we bond with at a spiritual level. That bond is so strong that it trancends death. She might not be physically alive, but she definitely lives with you.

..but you knew that already.

I was lucky enough to meet Suzanne when my daughter moved to Ypsi-Ann Arbor in the late 80's. I met her at her shop and I loved her artwork. She was one of the first, along with Kari Barba, women tattoo artists that I was exposed to and I always loved her work and enjoyed many articles about her in tattoo magazines. She has inspired many women to do there art on skin....your pics with her are awesome!

I too met Suzanne at my first convention, Dallas in '89. She was very nice to a slightly drunk barely tattooed (at the time) person. We had a short conversation on the state of the industry at that time. She left me with a very good impression of "name" tattoo artists. Quite a loss for tattooing.

There are some people we come in contact with and we are truly blessed. Whether they are friends, loved ones or perhaps the gift of a stranger. We shine and our lives are forever changed. When they pass, a piece of us unfortunately leaves, but it is those memories that keep us afloat. The years pass and it may still feel as if it were yesterday, but may you find comfort in keeping her memories alive. The last photo is positively magical, her spirit is by your side and she no doubt continues to watch over you from the other side. Thank you for sharing, you have allowed others to be a part of your life during a difficult time. There are a lot of us who feel your pain, and are touched by your words and pictures. May you find a little peace during this period of mourning, God Bless you and your family.

She was blessed as well to be loved by so many, and to still be honored to this day. That is a goal that we should all strive for; to love deeply and leave a positive impression on all whom we encounter.
To be loved and to love is the greatest gift we can receive, and that we can acomplish!

Love to all who loved Suzanne, including you Corey!

Its so hard to loose someone close to heart, but luckily the memories keep them alive for allways-that way they are never gone!
And the pics are just great, especially the last one-is there another world with all the lost loved ones?
It really makes you wonder!

Have a good weekend my friend!

i was tattooing with majic mike in lansing at that time and i often think about suzanne as well.....she was the first woman tattoo artist i ever met at a time when i thought their was no such thing and it floored me that not only such a rare thing could exist...but exist and blossom and just completely blow the wheels off all "compatition" around her.... She to me was a great motivator at the very least...and thought we never had the type of friendship that you had....my teacher did and it was a great loss to everyone the day she past.... she will always be remebered.
