Current mood:  pleased

At the end of October 2006 a show took place at the now defunct "House on the Hill".  The show was chock full of some of the greatest bands to ever play to the masses.  Randy had just begun to re-enter the scene in Reno after a six year sabaticle and was blown away by the show.  While dancing he broke his foot in the pit and said "next year I will be playing with one of these amazing bands."  As his foot slowly healed Randy worked at his dream job, the Starlite Bowl.  Then, as if the job was not enough good fortune, he met up with an old hometown friend. Together, with help from three other talented musicians, the two old friends formed a band.

Correction, as the band was named (after much discussion) has grown into an outstanding five member punk rock outfit.  The band has blown the minds of audiences as far away as the Double Down Club in Las Vegas, NV and recorded their first set of songs (unfortunatly in that order).  After a long spring and summer of playing house parties and bar shows Randy and Gordo, the singer for Correction, made the decision to become the Subhumans.

For those of you who don't know, the Subhumans are one of the greatest punk rock bands of all time.  Randy made some phone calls to find a rhythm section.  As luck would have it, Mike Piroli, from Weak (an early Randy Ransom project) took his rightful place behind his trusty set of Pearls.  Mike brought in the bass player from his band Stale Ale and the four musicians began the tranformation into Subhumans.  The fate of this group was doomed.

Randy kicked himself when he realized Mike was a bad choice for an essential band member.  Mike and his lovely wife Gina, were expecting their first child and the due date was quickly approching.  After one rehersal the baby came.  Since no good husband and father would take time away from his wife and newborn boy to play one show (even the greatest rock show), Mike had to decline the position.  Randy, Gordo, and Paddy the bass player continued to reherse, sans drummer, in hopes of finding another member that could hold down the tempo.  Gordo put in a "final hour" call to Correction drummer Craig.

It looked as though with a couple of quick rehersals the Subhumans were going to make their billing at 2007's greatest rock show.  Maybe all drummers are flakes but Randy perfers to think that the ones he plays music with are just good family men.  Due to a conflicting function with his baby boy, Craig was unable to play on the night of the show.  Time ran out on Subhumans who with regret dropped off the bill of the Greatest Rock Show.

The fans of Subhumans that came to the show may have missed a great band but were in no way dissapointed.  The second annual Greatest Rock Show lived up to it's name to a tee.  The show attracted many live music fans with performances by such acts as Neil Diamond, Sage Francis, Pixies and one of Randys all time favorites, The Clash.  The one and only Misfits were unable to play because the show met a tragic and early end.

After a late performance by Wu Tang Clan a member of the crowd went down.  The kid had been out boating on the lake swilling alcohol all day before coming to the show.  To much booze (and who knows what else) landed this guy in the dirt.  After he had not moved for ten minutes the kid regained conciousness.  He found himself staring up at the, always quick to respond, Reno Fire Department.  The person that was so kind as to donate the use of his land for a place to hold the Greatest Rock Show had to shut it down.  Big red trucks and flashing lights were not a welcome addition to the festivities.  So the crowd slowly shuffled out into the night.

The Greatest Rock Show mayhap come to an abbrupt end but not a single heavy heart passed through the exit gate.  Except maybe the one fan that left on a stretcher carried by emergency personel.  Randy and Gordo would have been on top of the world to have been able to bring Subhumans to the stage.  However; the two friends will stay busy with Correction, and a new band made up of the original members of Subhumans.  Randy is looking forward to the next Greatest Rock Show.  There are so many amazing rock bands to become.  Maybe next time Randy will be the drummer.

When asked how he liked the show Randy said, "If you missed this show you truely missed the Greatest Rock Show."  He also wanted to say thank you to all the members of all the bands, especally Jenn and the people that were instumental (pardon the pun) in puting it all together.

Also, Randy no longer has any desire to rock the cute drummer from Pandora.
