very well put as always! Isn't it strange how always those demanding respect & tolerance the most are always the ones showing & giving the least...?

People can't handle the truth! It is unknown why this has come to be, but I'm guessing everyone is breaking their mirrors so that they do not have to look at themselves in it. Freedom of speech is of the utmost importance in our world, but truth should be just as important! Not what is true for a few, but real truth that stands for everyone. True inner spiritulaity obtained througfh experience and looking into that mirror for self reflection. Not religion whcih sets it all up for you. That is dogma and hand holding. Peace and love back atcha Pat. Hopefully sanity will soon prevail!

No religion has any right to speak about human rights. No religion had any belief in human rights until the Enlightenment movement, a movement that had to step on a lot of religious toes to even be allowed to have the movement. I do understand Obama's attempts at diplomacy, the attempts to influence nasty governments by gun waving and insults has only made the situation worse.
I completely agree that freedom of speech is "out of bounds"! It makes me pretty sick that civilized people would even entertain the idea.

We actually haven't had free speech for quite some time now. It was legislated away several years ago. I can't remember the specific number of the bill but I do remember it's name was Homegrown Radicalization and Terrorism Prevention Act. There is also a mandatory draft now. It's called HR 1388 the G.I.V.E. (Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education. Now THAT is an insidious little piece o Newspeak right there. Awwww! How sweet. Volunteer at the barrell of a gun to learn about dying for your country and all it's bullshit corrupt politicians) Act.

http://www.govtrack.us/congress/billtext.xpd?bill=h111-1388

(B)(6) Whether a workable, fair, and reasonable mandatory service """requirement""" for """all able young people""" could be developed, and how such a requirement could be implemented in a manner that would strengthen the social fabric of the Nation and overcome civic challenges by bringing together people from diverse economic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.

‘‘(a) PROHIBITED ACTIVITIES.—A participant
in an approved national service position
under this subtitle may not engage in the
following activities:
‘‘(1) Attempting to influence legislation.
‘‘(2) Organizing or engaging in protests, petitions,
boycotts, or strikes.
‘‘(3) Assisting, promoting, or deterring
union organizing.
‘‘(4) Impairing existing contracts for services
or collective bargaining agreements.
‘‘(5) Engaging in partisan political activities,
or other activities designed to influence
the outcome of an election to any public office.
‘‘(6) Participating in, or endorsing, events
or activities that are likely to include advocacy
for or against political parties, political
platforms, political candidates, proposed legislation,
or elected officials.
‘‘(7) Engaging in religious instruction, conducting
worship services, providing instruction
as part of a program that includes mandatory
religious instruction or worship, constructing
or operating facilities devoted to
religious instruction or worship, maintaining
facilities primarily or inherently devoted
to religious instruction or worship, or engaging
in any form of religious proselytization.

I agree with this one hundred and umpteen percent. I too have claimed in the past that the whole shemozzle surrounding gods et all is the biggest and most successful confidence trick ever perpetrated on the public at large and yet nobody has been locked up for this crime. I always thought that fraud was a very serious offence but apparently not. These instigators of religions have got away with literal murder and still do. Isn't the murder of innocents a crime, too?

Great video!...Probably the  most important aspects of American government is the 1st amendment of the Constitution allowing freedom of speech and the press and also the separation of Church and State..Our founding fathers had learned from this from centuries of political strife and religious wars in Europe and the Middle and Far East...We must fight for our right of freedom of speech and to keep religion out of government in order to maintain a civilized world

Very good points.  CAIR is in deep shit over here regarding allegations of spying and infiltration.  Perhaps they were moving too quickly.  As for Obama, he is a dreamer, but he's also a politician, and a power broker par excellence.  Curious Nobel prizes aside, I don't imagine Rahm Emmanuel will let him get too cozy with the Islamists.  Never fear.  We are watching.  Closely.

Freedom of speech does not mean ignorant hateful insults or aggressive behavior..It means being strong, confidant and assertive in our belief that truth is our right...Truth doesn't come easy..It takes awareness and study of a situation from many different viewpoints before a fair and just opinion can been reached..

I chuckled at the part where you mentioned it would soon become International Law, and therefore us American's would soon feel pressured to change for "community cohesion".  Haha, American's don't pay attention to International Law? Haven't you been watching the news the last thirty years?

America's Religious-Right are chipping away and watering down our 1st amendment. They say we have "freedom OF religion" not "freedom FROM religion". They are re-interpreting our Constitution like they do their bible. Our politicians are a joke. Their religion is more important to voters than their past policies. It's illegal in a handful of states for an atheist to run for public office. We will never have an atheist or even an agnostic President. We can't even get a semi-secular President that will stop saying "God bless America".

Obama has already exhibited bigotry with regards to gay marriage, so I'm not surprised that he supports other bigots in their desire to control freak free-thinkers into biting their tongues.  Fucking politicians.  I hate most politicians as much as I hate ALL religious leaders.  I'll respect people's freedom to choose, but I am under no obligation to respect what people choose.  Religion = Insanity.

I understand that in the UK, Islam reigns supreme as the biggest threat to freedom of thought and progress.  But here in the USA, our particular religiosity shoots christianity right up there.  Religion in general is an affront to reason and rational decisions, individually or collectively.

If I could push a button and kill one billion Muslims and one billion Christians in one second, do you really think I would wait that long? I wouldn't hesitate. But that's cutting corners and that's not reality. The best solution that I have to offer, and to utilize, is educating the ignorant and superstitious people of the world. I know, it's the hard and frustrating way. But it's the only way. Well, that and a bullwhip!

Great and well thought out post as usual, Pat. Kudos to you. Religion and so called Religious leaders are dangerous. As long as there are oppressed people or simpletons or brain-washed folks believing in fantasy/fairy tales it doesn't bode well for the rest of us. I wish the world wasn't full of stupid, hypocritical folks who don't take responsibility for their own actions and lives. Far too many people in this world.

The Supremes have already carved out so many exceptions to the First Amendment that it's really only a vague shadow of what might have been.  Of course, when the Founding Fathers decided to make a rule that government could not infringe upon free expression, it might have occurred to them that maybe it's not a very bright idea making the government the sole interpreter of that rule.  As it stands now, there is no such thing as free speech in the U.S.  There's only speech that has not yet been outlawed.

Hell, if you ask them, most of the people in the U.S. think we have too much freedom of speech and Congress is perpetually attacking it using the strategy that it's ok to ban expression that the Founders couldn't possibly have meant to protect (you know, stuff that offends people).

You're hatred of Muslims and Islam in General is unhealthy, and should be checked out at your local psychiatric Clinic..

I do love you though..

Why do people put Christianity before GOD?  The fact is the churches of the world are under the JUDGMENT of GOD for the many lies they tell and for deceiving many. The fact is satan is now in control of the churches, READ 2 Thessalonians 2:3-9.

Now, re: the lies that men say:  The fool has said in his heart, there is no God. The churches and them who say they are christian, and are not, (Matthew 7:21) as well as them who believe not in God, are one in the same, for they are all liars. God is THE TRUTH, and He gave us His Book to tell us THE TRUTH, God has said let every man be a liar, but GOD THE TRUTH. Romans 3:4.

This video is proof that God is the Intelligent Designer of all.
