Current mood: artistic Category: Music
Being in the music business and having a reasonable amount of success over the years, I still hope for the day when people just judge music by the content rather than a genre. I really like music from all different types. I perform, produce, and compose music of all different types. My main focus is guitar oriented instrumental music, usually listed in some type of jazz genre. I just have a problem with people who pre-judge music before they listen to it. This prejudice is really childish. There are jazz snobs, rap snobs, country snobs, metal snobs, etc.. Can't we all get along? ?There is music that is art, and there is music just meant to pass a few minutes by entertaining us like a short movie. So all you critics (whom a lot of you I have had to deal with), relax first, and don't pay attention to what genre or label a CD is listed under. Just put it on and see if the music moves you, relaxes , energizes, brings some type of emotion around. Sometimes music has a way of weeding out the bad unemotional compositions from the heart-felt soul that many composers pour into their craft. Music is a gift to the world. Sometimes we return gifts. They just were not the right one for us. And that's life! Peace, Patrick
