The link above tells about a boy, age 13, named Sean Masters. His mom, Debra, is a friend of mine - I've enjoyed fellowship with her for the past year. Sean has a congenital heart defect, who had emergency heart surgery within hours of his birth; and they've always known that he would not live to be 18, without corrective surgery. But, the catch is, he had to be at the right size (full-sized heart) before the risky surgery could be done. At the last check up, they determined that he is now old enough, and big enough, and it's now urgent enough, that he have the surgery this summer.
They've both waited for, and dreaded, this very moment...
They thought they had 'til next summer, to prepare financially, but the doctors say it needs to be done ASAP.
The problem is, while Debra has worked hard to afford this, taking on a second job, and then getting a raise in her first job -- this increase has caused her to lose her supplemental medical aid. While she now has a meager amount of insurance, the deductible is well over $6,500.00 -- money they just do not have, nor do they have enough time to raise it on their own.
Another friend of theirs, Brian, created the website above, which tells the story of Sean, and tells how you, as a fellow member of the Body of Christ, can help to reach out to this boy. Debra is a follower of Jesus, though her heart has been broken many times, by other Christians who have turned their backs on her and Sean, during times of need.
Please visit the site, and then pray about whether God is asking you to be one who will/can respond. Even a "small" amount helps, whatever you can spare. I apologize if you got this more than once, as I went quickly through my address book -- some of you may be in more than one of my address "groups" (you're that special!). I will not be harassing you about this -- just this one time mention. Do not feel obligated to give - give only if God leads you to do so... but do ask Him.
Thank you for reading this, and please pass this on, to others who may help, too!
