As I was driving to my women's Bible study last week, this thought came to my mind---"You can only be consumed with one thing."  I know this was from God.

There are so many verses that talk about our thoughts:  holding them captive, thinking on whatever is good, etc.  It is interesting to measure our thoughts, weighing them against what we believe.   It is very telling of our hearts.

On a deeper level, I believe there is truly one thought under all the rest.  Maybe it is more like the place the thoughts are born.

There have been times when my thoughts have been consumed with things like desiring a bigger house.  The thoughts born out of that place are fruitless.  That place also creates such unrest, that any other problems that happen in everyday life seem bigger than they really are.  It's as if I'm looking through a clouded filter.

If my thoughts are consumed with Christ, and his goodness it's a different story.  The way I look at problems, and the rest of life is based on a foundation of peace.  I handle life more gracefully.  I can see things clearly, and with hope.

Lord, help me to stay in that place, where my one underlying consuming thought is you.
