I have to post my thoughts in reference to some questions and comments I've been getting. NO... I have not stopped making Freestyle music. I've always considered my music to be a mixture of Pop, Freestyle and R&B. These two new tracks just kind of lean a little more to the Pop and R&B side of things.
I actually recorded THREE new songs in Toronto recently. You can hear two of them on my player now. The third song is a Freestyle track called "You Lose 'Em How You Got 'Em". Unfortunately, I was very unhappy with my vocal on the track. We attempted to record all three songs in one recording session. That track was the last one I laid down my vocals for and I was EXHAUSTED. So... we're finishing the music and I'll be re-recording the vocals soon.
This brings me to a point. Always be true to who you are, no matter what anyone else has to say. It's funny. I had haters post very public comments about my old songs where they went off on me for not being Freestyle enough... not being Latin... assuming that I didn't grow up listening to Freestyle music in the same way they had. They thought I should be making Pop music and to leave Freestyle alone. It hurt my feelings at first but I quickly realized what bullshit it really was.
Now, I have people making comments because I have grown as an artist and am introducing other elements into my music. Sometimes it seems you can never win. Long story short... you can't please everyone. You have to make sure you please yourself and always stay real. That's all I'm doing and it's all I'll continue to do.
Again, thank you to the many people who have supported me over the years. You mean everything to me and please don't think this blog is directed to you. It's directed to the haters who have nothing better to do but criticize others for doing their thing. As far as I'm concerned, the criticism is over and I'm moving forward while they stay behind.
