Children of Bodom... Machine Fucking Head... Slipknot... all at the same gig... what could be better?

7pm (ish), Bodom take to the stage, within seconds, Davo instigates a pit... they were good, technically they are awesome.  I wish I knew more of their stuff, Blooddrunk was definitely a highlight... They played a 30 min set, I think I preferred them at Download but that was probably just because their set then was longer!

Next on was the small matter of MACHINE FUCKING HEAD!  I swear, I think it would be impossible for me to see them live and not love them.  I was in my element!  They came out to Clenching the Fists of Descent, followed by Imperium then Beautiful Morning (I think!), for these 2 I was right near the front battling through, they were incredible.  Then I decided to get in on some pit action to the awesome Aesthetics of Hate, Old and Halo, this was just fucking brutal, no question, it hurt!  Then they obviously finished with Davidian, absolutely massive pit, found Davo and then Pete for the first time all set, rounded off 50 minutes where I was pretty much in heaven.

Now the only problem with such an awesome line up is by the time the main event hits the stage you're absolutely shattered!  Slipknot though were everything you'd expect them to be, but were obviously in a fucking strange mood as in amongst their anthems they played some totally unexpected tracks such as "Prosthetics".  Getting to mosh in a Slipknot crowd to "Duality" though was one of the highlights of my life, it may have been tame, someone may have punched me straight in the chest deliberately but I loved ever second and is something I'd wanted to do for the past 4 years or so!  They put on a hell of a show too, Joey at one point was lifted up in the air, his drums then rotated so he was facing the floor, then rotated so he was facing the ceiling before being lowered back down again, constantly playing!

It was a great gig, even if we had to travel over to the principality to see it, only downside is I didn't meet any hot Welsh ladies!  Oh well, when you have metal who needs anything else?
