Contrary to what some good-intentioned people have said in various publications, we are not a "wizard rock label." In fact, we are against the notion of a wizard rock label, and our goal is to prevent such a thing from coming into existence by way of educating wizard rock bands on how they can support their own music careers.
And contrary to what some good-intentioned non-wizard DIY/indie musicians might believe, wizard rock is perfectly compatible with independent and underground music. Wizard rock's current community of musicians transcends the original Harry Potter themed gimmick. The community's population consists largely of young people who are experimenting with music and recording equipment, and who are glad to share their creation with other people without turning a profit. 95% of wizard rockers were abiding by DIY ethics before they even knew what they were. It's a beautiful thing, and we feel strongly about maintaining that beauty for as long as humanly possible. We believe that promoting DIY ethics throughout the wizard rock community not only benefits the musicians involved, but also benefits the future of independent music in general.
