Cheap Rent's primary goal is to support bands and musicians we like, in any way that we can. We began as an organizer of DIY house party shows in Woonsocket RI in the fall of 2004. Over the course of the next 18 months, we hosted an amazing roster of bands in semi-monthly showcases and developed an awesome crowd of regulars who genuinely enjoyed listening to music. We sort of became a record label by default with the release of The Whomping Willows' debut record in February 2006. We also sort of became a recording studio when The Jena Campaign used Cheap Rent's computer to record their new record (to be released on Nobody's Favorite Records in early 2007). We seem to be developing into some weird hybrid of record label and guidance counselor. Our two primary goals over the next 12 months:


1. Encourage all wizard rock bands to maintain a DIY ethic as they become more experienced in the music business. We plan to achieve this goal by forming friendships and partnerships with various wizard rock bands, educating them about DIY methodology so they can produce, release and promote their own work, and equip as many bands as possible with as much knowledge as possible so wizard rock can remain a pure musical movement with no greedy corporate involvement.


2. Release a series of select performances from the Cheap Rent House Party Series and donate all proceeds to charity.
