After a hectic year in 2008 which saw Jones reach several career milestones including turning 50, performing as a musician for 30 years, 20 years since the release of the classic “Meltdown” cd, and the 10 year reunion of his previous group, First Light – Jones was finally able to focus his efforts on creating the second recording for his current outfit, The Peace, Love, Unity Syndicate (aka ‘the PLUS Band). Jones agreed to let Mifune guitar player/leader, Jacob Fader engineer and produce the record, which was recorded at Fader’s home studio in Cleveland Heights. An added benefit was also having access to the Mifune horn section, which adds a whole new dimension to the recording. “Leave A Trail” shows off the tight, crisp ensemble sound of the PLUS Band, which has been honed by their busy performance schedule. The songs are upbeat and inspirational, continuing Jones’ theme of encouraging Positive Vibrations by what you do and say. Carlos Jones’ voice and vocal harmonies shine in the forefront with a natural warmth that mirrors his personality. The group will perform tracks off the new cd at the two shows, doing two sets with no opening act. For more information on Carlos Jones, go to www.carlosjones.com or www.myspace.com/carlosjones. FROM LOS:
Alright! Well it looks like it's about that time! I mean it's only been 5 years since Roots With Culture, but we figured we'd see if we could crank out another little collection of music for folks to play in their cars and at their backyard parties this summer. Thanks to Jacob and Christine Fader and our good friends in Mifune, we were able to do just that. Recorded right in the heart of beautiful Cleveland Heights at ODC Studios, "Leave A Trail" captures the energy and message that the PLUS Band brings to each of its live shows, with a roster of songs that span a 30 year journey of playing music from the heart and soul. We'd love it if you'd come out and help us celebrate the birth of our new baby. Thursday, May 28th is the Akron release at Musica (we couldn't forget our cousins to the south, now could we?), and Friday, May 29th we throw down at The Grog Shop, right down on Coventry where basically, it all started for me in 1978 with Ital. I'm pretty psyched, and hope you'll like it as much as I do. Step Forward!
