Category: Dreams and the Supernatural
I'm always proud to admit that the first album I ever bought was Yngwie Malmsteen's "Rising Force". While Sweden is super strong in the world of pop (even we are now half Swedish too, thanks to Paul!) I still feel that Yngwie is the only TRUE rock star that has ever come out of Sweden. In some areas he's even managed to top Spinal Tap, I mean those guys haven't been beaten up by a maddened journalist!
Yngwie is the boss of the bosses of modern guitar heroes (especially as according to some source he actually taught God how to play guitar) and I myself do think supernaturally fast guitar playing (aka "shredding") can be used as an exotic spice to add flavour to any kind of music (even non-bland!). Our trusted shredder-man Mika Tyyskä did some crazy stunts with a guitar and an electric drill on "Mischief", and he's gonna be on the new album too, playing an extended surf solo on a tune about anti-matter powered airship cruising thru the heart of a thunderstorm. You know the usual Pepe stuff. But with added Victorian romanticism. Anyways Mika is also a very talented animator (among other things he's animated a video for Dream Theater), and he's got a wicked website where YOU can become the (virtual) king of shredders in a few minutes. Plus you get to download a tune from Mika's alter ego "Mr. Fasfinger"'s debut album, "The Way of the Exploding Guitar"!

Umm yeah, 3 tunes down, working on the next three now.
