Miami, FL June 29, 2008 – FUNDarte presents visionary pianist Roberto Carcassés in an exclusive one night performance on July 17 at 8:00 p.m. in Little Havana's Manuel Artime Theater.
One of the most prodigious musicians and producers of his generation, Carcassés (1972) has made an indelible contribution to fusion through his uniquely accented music.
Better known as Robertico Carcassés in artistic circles, he graduated specializing in percussion from the National School of Arts in Havana in 1991. A year later he embarked on numerous tours in Argentina, Germany, and Spain as a pianist in Santiago Feliú's band. In the 90s Carcassés , Descemer Bueno, Dafnis Prieto and Yosvany Terry led the Afro-Cuban jazz outfit Columna B in the U.S., and around the same time he gave a workshop at Stanford University.
Throughout his career Carcassés has been invited to many international jazz festivals, including the Barcelona Jazz Festival ('97), the Havana Festival ('95, '96, '97) and the Utah Jazz Festival ('98). He has participated in albums that have shaped the landscape of contemporary music in Cuba, most notably Trampas del tiempo (Pavel y Gema), Jazz Timbero (alongside his father, trumpet player Bobby Carcassés) and Twisted Noon (Columna B). In 1997 Carcassés composed the soundtrack for the film Violetas (México), as well as some songs for the films Cuarteto de La Habana (Spain) and New Rose Hotel (USA).
Carcassés has collaborated with masters such as Chucho Valdés, Changuito, Wynton Marsalis, George Benson, Gonzalito Rubalcaba and Harper Simon, amongst other renowned musicians. His most recent productions are Goza pepillo, as bandleader for Interactivo, a collective he formed several years ago, Breathe, the sophomore album of singer/songwriter/multi-instrumentalist Yusa, and Techari, as guest collaborator on Ojos de Brujo's last studio album. In all of his projects Carcassés displays a talent and skills that harmonize with his singular tendencies and sonorities. His group Interactivo, which brings together the crème de la crème of young Cuban instrumentalists, garnered the highly coveted Cubadisco award in 2006.
Currently Carcassés is putting the final touches on his new album Matizar, with plans to finish production in Miami.

Miami, FL Junio 29, 2008 – FUNDarte, presenta uno de los músicos y productores más prodigiosos de su generación, el pianista Roberto Carcassés (1972), que ha marcado para siempre el término fusión con acento propio, durante un concierto único el 17 de julio a las 8:00 p.m. en el Teatro Artime de la Pequeña Habana (900 SW 1ra Calle).
Más conocido por Robertico Carcassés en el medio artístico, el intérprete se graduó de percusión en la Escuela Nacional de Arte de La Habana en 1991 y un año después realizó numerosas giras como pianista con el grupo de Santiago Feliú por Argentina, Alemania y España. En los noventa también estuvo con la agrupación Columna B por los Estados Unidos, donde impartió un taller en la Universidad de Stanford.
Ha sido invitado de numerosos festivales de jazz, entre los cuales figuran: Festival de Jazz de Barcelona (97), Festival de La Habana (95,96,97) y Utah Jazz Festival (98). Tiene en su haber álbumes musicales que han hecho historia en el panorama contemporáneo como son: Trampas del tiempo (Pavel y Gema), Jazz timbero y Twisted Noon. Compuso la banda sonora del film Violetas (México), 1997 así como algunas canciones para los largometrajes Cuarteto de La Habana (Spain) y New Rose Hotel (USA).
Carcassés ha colaborado con Chucho Valdés, Changuito, Wynton Marsalis, George Benson , Gonzalito Rubalcaba y Harper Simon, entre otros músicos de gran prestigio. Sus más recientes producciones son Goza pepillo, para el grupo Interactivo, que fundara hace algunos años, Breathe, de la cantante Yusa y Ojos de brujo. En todas se manifiesta un talento y destreza para armonizar tendencias y sonoridades muy singular.
Su grupo Interactivo, donde se da cita la crema y nata de los más jóvenes instrumentistas cubanos, obtuvo recientemente el Gran Premio Cubadisco 2006
Actualmente da los toque finales a su nuevo álbum Matizar que terminará de producir en Miami.
