I just saw this AP article on Yahoo- http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080725/ap_on_re_as/philippines_emergency_landing The gist of it is a Quantas flight made an emergency landing after a hole ripped in the side of the fuselage. I had to laugh at the sentence, "An official of the U.S. Transportation Security Administration said initial reports indicated no link to terrorism." I suppose they include that preemptively because otherwise people will ask, but still, it seems a bit silly. Accidents still happen even as the world becomes overly paranoid. But wait, there's more: The article points out how calm the passengers were despite there being a hole in the plane. "June Kane of Melbourne agreed, telling Australia's ABC radio: 'It was absolutely terrifying, but I have to say everyone was very calm.'" absolutely terrifying = calm? This word "terror" gets thrown around far too easily I think.
