BLOG

It's been a while… I've been neglecting my Myspace page. Too many spammers and the impersonal nature of this Mall of America of Internet sites have slowed me down. Yesterday I put up a brand new Facebook page – a bit less cramped and more my speed. Please come on by. I'm still staying with this one though so don't give up on me.

As a farewell to our commander-in-chief I just put together a video clip for "Not a Political Song". They tell me lo-fi is charming, so here goes. If you dig, please spread the word, comment, and enjoy again.

In other news I just finished producing and mixing an album for an Israeli artist by the name of Gilad Chushani which will be out by the spring of '09. Great stuff. My first non-English project and it was gigantic loads of fun and a little challenging too. Gilad and the musicians are all great guys and working in Israel was a cool experience despite being locked up in a basement studio for 60+ hours a week. I even got to see Paul McCartney playing in the park in Tel-Aviv. By "in the park" I don't mean on a bench but in front of 50,000 adoring though somewhat subdued fans. 66 and still rockin. The thing about Paul is that 90 minutes are just not enough to even crack a tiny portion of his hits. You'll always leave wanting more. Abe Laboriel Jr., his drummer, was ridiculous. Not as in funny. I'm in awe.

I'm currently working on more songs for the full-length Basement Tapes album and should be done by Feb-March, after which point I'll get back on the stage for some new shows. In the meantime I just updated my webpage and as of Mondau night you'll be able to download individual tracks as mp3 files directly from it for $0.90 a piece. All you need is a PayPal account. Oh technology, I love you.

Favorite Internet clip of the week - a literal version of Tears For Fears' Head over Heels.

Lastly, a lot of people have been asking me who did the cover art for my Basement Tapes album. The guy's name is Andy Gouveia and you can check out his work at http://www.andygouveia.com.

That's it for now. Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and all the best for '09. 2009? Wow.

Peace,
Holmes
