I had so much fun at the Boulevard Music Variety Show tonight! There were a lot of talented artists that showcased thier skills. I wish I knew all the names but, Eric Mede (I hope I spelled that right) and The Gazelles were a few I remembered. It was a great night.
I came out and brought my brand of hip-hop to the stage and didn't know what to expect because I was the only hip-hop artist. I opened by asking who was into hip-hop and by show of hands, I felt comfy....right at home. =) I opened with "F-bombs" and "Elbow" from my upcoming new album. Then I calmed it down with two songs from my previous album, "But Nobodys Listening" and "Church Folk". I wrapped it up with my upcoming new single "Begins With J".
The love was great! The energy was amazing. When people perform it's always important to remember that it's a give and take situation. I'm giving a show, but the audience is giving thier attention and energy. I also gave my contact info to the two artists I mentioned. I hope to one day work with them.
I learned that hip-hop remains universal when you are able to touch a familiar place with your music. I'm not sure what it was, but they enjoyed it. My audience continues to amaze me because I can confidently say that my fans are so broad and those that love what I do are diverse and from all walks of life. I think that maybe the common denominator is I am just giving you ME. Honest JunSix. Who knows.
Anyway, thanks to those who enjoyed my show and I hope I can continue to give you my music. It's a blessing, not a right, to be appreciated for your music.
On to the next show! I hope to see you there. STAY TUNED!
Be blessed,
JunSix
PS- i tried to tape the show, but unfortunately I had a technical difficulty so if you missed it, you missed it--- hope to see you at the next one. =)
